Classic Car Overview
This 1966 AMC Marlin was sold new at Cherol Motor Co. of Youngstown, Ohio, and it spent three decades in storage in the care of its original owners family until it was sold four years ago. It was purchased by the seller following an August 2023 BaT auction, and it now shows 45k miles. The car is finished in Caballero Tan over Saddle upholstery, and power is supplied by a 232ci inline-six with a two-barrel carburetor and a column-shifted, three-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes wheel covers, reclining front seats, a push-button AM radio, seatbelts, and a heater. This Marlin is now offered with a clean Washington State title. The car is finished in Caballero Tan Metallic (24), and a CB antenna mount has been fitted to the trunk lid. The removed antenna is included in the sale. Steel 14 wheels wear Turbo-Cast covers and are mounted with older Executive whitewall tires; a spare is stored in the trunk. Braking is handled by unassisted drums at all four corners, and work performed under current ownership involved refurbishing the brake master and wheel cylinders in addition to replacing the brake shoes. The interior features two rows of seats that are said to have been re-trimmed in Saddle vinyl with patterned inserts. Rubberized mats line the footwells, and appointments include reclining front seats, a heater/defroster, bright trim, lap belts, a clock, and a push-button AM radio. The headliner is imperfect, and the door seals are cracked. The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 45k miles. The 232ci inline-six was factory rated at 155 horsepower with its optional two-barrel carburetor. Work within the last five years has included resealing and repainting the engine, replacing the thermostat and spark plugs, and refurbishing the water pump, radiator, and fuel pump. Additional recommended work includes replacing the drive belts, coolant hoses, and radiator cap. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission. An undercoating was applied, reportedly when the car was new.
