Classic Car Overview
1966 AC Cobra Roadster For consignment, a 1966 AC Cobra Roadster replica showing 3,250 miles which are not actual. The car was built in 2016 by Power Performance and is sporting a 428ci engine that dynod at 319.72 horsepower, and in a lightweight car like this, thats more than adequate to get this roadster moving in short order. Exterior It is said that Briggs Cunningham started adding stripes to the American White racing cars to make them more distinctive and recognizable at speed and the idea that started in the 50s, continues with Shelby Cobras for which blue and white delineated their American origins. Reflective accents include the light trim rings, the bumperettes, side mirrors, window frame, roll bar, and the polished headers and side pipes. Fittingly, 15-inch Halibrand knock off replicas provide the shoes here which are wrapped in staggered size tires over which the hips of this car cover. In back, stacked round tail lights cap off the coke bottle curves of the fenders, and a racing style gas latched gas cap takes its place on one hip. Staring at its face, the gaping grilleless intake and hood scoop over wide set eyes are enough to motivate those in front to step aside, just as the boom of exhaust blares by. The paint and metalwork is fantastic and the only imperfection we found was one paint chip low on the car. Interior Vinyl pocketed door panels present in clean black with polished door hardware towards the jamb and this material is utilized on the low back bucket seats in proper Cobra design, flanking the transmission hump that offers up the forward canted shifter in a rubber boot. The simple dash design is fronted by a wood rimmed steering wheel, and houses numerous AutoMeter gauges and toggle switches that is not too far off from the layout of the originals. Wonderful low pile black carpet covers the floor and center hump and AC engraved pedals occupy the brake and clutch, while the trunk is also nicely lined and houses the battery. Drivetrain Lift the light hood and we find a clean 428ci V8 with dual Holley 4-barrel carburetors and hidden inside is a Comp cam with .580i/.589e lift. The T5 transmission was rebuilt in 2022 at the same time an 11 clutch was added to this 5-speed manual which sends power to the rear axle housing 3.54 gears. Headers are on board, naturally, to begin the simple exhaust process which ends abruptly in classic sidepipe configuration. Undercarriage Other than some typical surface rust, theres not a whole lot to report under here. Its very clean, even glossy in places and theres barely evidence of usage. Were loving the inboard disc brakes in the back which are teamed with discs up front for efficient stopping power. The tubular frame is straight and clean. Drive-Ability Evidence points to a low mileage, limited use sports car and as such, the engine delivers without hesitation while the car delivers astounding acceleration, fantastic tracking, and satisfying, road sticking handling. All of the functional items operated as they should including lights, gauges, and brakes. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
