Classic Car Overview
1965 Triumph TR4 convertible in Signal Red with a black interior. This California car was recently purchased, sourced from either Colorado or Utah. Its a promising little project car that runs and drives well, as we will demonstrate with a yard driving video. The car comes fitted with a good set of tires, and is an excellent starting point for an easy and straightforward restoration.
The body is in decent shape overall, with minimal rust issues. It has been repainted in its original red color. One notable area of concern is the right rocker panel, which needs replacement. However, the rest of the body, including the wheel arches and fenders, is in excellent condition. Triumph TR4s have seen a rise in the market recently due to their exceptional and handsome design by Italian designer Michelotti.
The interior shows original red paint, although the upholstery is peeling and requires attention. The floors, however, are solid and in good condition, displaying only a bit of surface rust. The wooden dashboard, characteristic of the 1965 model year, will need restoration. The seats appear to be original or close to it, with correct slides.
Moving to the trunk, we find a straight and clean space, showcasing the cars dry Western States history. The engine compartment is also clean and original, with the front valance properly replaced at some point. The engine is the correct and original one, indicated by the properly sequenced VIN plate.
Overall, this TR4 is an honest car that runs and drives. With its affordable price and solid condition, it presents an excellent opportunity for a cosmetic restoration. Aside from the right rocker panel that needs replacing, this TR4 is a straight and rust-free car, making it an ideal starting point for someone looking to enter the TR4 market. Finished in its original colors and equipped with the correct components, this 1965 Triumph TR4 convertible is ready for a straightforward restoration.
