VW Kombi Van Seeing Resurgence in Popularity

The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. From a cargo carrier with no windows behind the driver's seat to a windowed passenger van with three rows of seats, the possibilities seemed endless.

Classic Car Overview

This 1965 Sunbeam Tiger has been restored to represent exactly what makes it a legend. Power, agility, and European stylishness are the hallmarks of this specialty machine, and this Mk1 example is a sharply-presented classic that gives you the best nostalgia in a well-documented package. Nostalgia is a key word for this car. The Tiger has some of the most legendary names associated with its development, like Carroll Shelby. So it loves to make you think about the most iconic days in racing. And because our nostalgia tends to be better than reality ever was, this was rotisserie restored in 2019 to quite a high-quality standard so that it lives up to your dreams. You see it in detail with the mirror-like shine of the chrome bumpers, and the almost unbroken look of the full-length trim shows off the excellent fit of the body panels. Its finished in its factory-correct Moonstone White. Its a color we see less frequently than British racing green or James Bond blue, and so it gives this its own individual level of distinction. Plus, theres a beautiful shine that makes sure this is memorable for its own merits. This is a Mk1 example, and they are desirable for being the purest of design. It keeps the Alpines svelte touches. So it doesnt have the Cobra-style grille, minilite wheels, or racing stripes. Instead, it has crisp and clean lines where only the Power By Ford fender badges to hint at the true muscle within. This car is all about looking distinctly attractive. So the black convertible top has a great look with a clean style that timelessly contrasts the bright white paint. Plus, when you take it down, the red interior is pure European-level flair. And dont you just love how it goes with the redline tires on the outside? The Alpine was a good base for the Tiger because Sunbeam made a convertible that felt very complete, right down to the roll-up windows. Theres a premium feeling in this car, and it has to do with the quality of the restoration. The carpeting feels plush, the trunk is fully finished, and the wood of the dash and steering wheel has a smooth feel and a glossy presentation. The bucket seats and center console are particularly nice with a clean look and black piping to match the seatbelts. And the Ford stick shift and a full set of Jaeger gauges are the perfect merging of American muscle and European driving dynamics. The motor is what makes the Tiger so unique and important, and so they made sure the engine bay was ready to be on full display. Its beautifully tidy so that you can spot details everywhere from the polished valve covers (comes with the original valve covers also) to the additional bracing for this V8 machine. Fords 260 cubic-inch V8 was great for this featherweight British machine, and we have very good documentation that supports this being the original motor for the car. The motor was said to have been rebuilt as part of the full restoration, and the way it fires and runs eagerly confirms the feeling of a solid investment. It makes for a strong powerhouse that you fully control with the four-speed manual transmission. Add in front disc brakes, era-correct LAT5 weld-on traction bars, and the grip of Cooper tires at all four corners, and soon you realize that this Tiger is begging for the open road. The sale comes complete with the restoration photos, build receipts, maintenance records, and the original valve covers with engine tag info. There is even a Sunbeam Tiger Owners Association certificate of authenticity to help reaffirm this cars full story. This Mk1 Tiger has been restored for the best Nostalgia. So if you want to own a true legend, you cant let this one slip away. Call today!!!
