Classic Car Overview
1965 Pontiac Parisienne Custom Sport Convertible
The year was 1965 and the Automotive Market found the Pontiac Parisienne was the top of the line Canadian Pontiac that year. This was a successful move for GM Canada as full-size Pontiacs were the best selling Canadian cars that year of 1965. Here in Canada there were 3 Canadian models in the Pontiac line up, the base model being a Strato Chief, the mid model was a Laurentian and the premier model was the Parisienne. The sub models were a total of 8 with 2 door and 4 door sedans and hard tops as well as a wagon. The 2 top models were the Pontiac Parisienne convertibles with the best one being the Parisienne Custom Sport convertible. The Custom Sport convertible came with bucket seats, a floor shift and center console as standard equipment.
Although there were 3 different V8 motors available in 1965 this car came equipped with the ever popular 283 V8 which first came on the market in 1957. This was one of GMs best V8s ever made, for their size they were quiet, very responsive and powerful when paired with the very smooth shifting 2 speed powerglide transmission. Currently the odometer reading is 38,268 miles.
Options in this car included, power steering, power brakes, deluxe AM radio, a vacuum gauge so you could see how the car was performing, a tinted windshield and of course a power convertible top.
This car was owned since 1985 by 1 family who enjoyed it in the summer time which gave them many happy memories. There are no cracks in the original dash, all 3 dash gauges are working, fuel, battery and vacuum.
The interior is presentable and clean, the windshield and all the other glass is in good condition. The power top is working properly but going forward a new owner may wish to replace the canvas as it has some wear and tear to it or if kept in the down position like many people do, it comes with a boot cover to give it that finished look. The rally wheels are GM but not original to the car although they are painted the same as the rest of the car and give it a very smart and sporty look. The tires are in very good condition and will have no problem passing a safety inspection. In the trunk is the complete original jacking assembly, there is also a good spare that holds its pressure without any problem.
All signal lights, dash lights and head lights are working as they should be. The 2 speed windshield wipers are working in both positions, the car heater system is working as well. There is a new battery so the 283 V8 starts up right away with just a few pumps to the gas pedal, the motor is very quiet and responsive, the transmission is quiet as well and shifts very smoothly.
Who will enjoy this great summer cruiser next ? Maybe you !!!
