Classic Car Overview

1965 Plymouth Fury I Car History If you are old enough to remember, cars like this 1965 Plymouth Fury I were muscle cars before they were called muscle cars. Minimally equipped mid-size hardtops were stuffed with big block engines and used for battles on the street, strip, and NASCAR races. The Plymouth Fury I we have at Adventure Classics is a great example of what was produced by Plymouth from 1955 to 1989 as it has a long sleek hood to accommodate big V8 engines and that is what ours has, a 440 cubic inch engine backed by a 4-speed transmission and packing a no-frills attitude that is so appealing. Engine & Drivetrain Our Fury has Chryslers 440 cubic inch V8 engine built with over 400 horsepower and transplanted in it that makes almost effortless horsepower and torque and delivers the kind of neck-snapping punch that makes it hard to resist nailing the throttle every chance you get. It is painted in Hemi Orange on the block and heads with an orange painted open-element air cleaner, chrome valve covers, aluminum intake, performance carb, factory exhaust manifolds with a Flowmaster exhaust system, and is sitting in a nicely detailed engine compartment. It starts easily and runs great and is backed by a 4-speed manual transmission while the chassis is quite original looking as it rides on painted steel wheels with dog dish hubcaps and black sidewall tires looking like its ready for the high banks at Daytona. Interior The all-blue split bench seat no-nonsense interior is more proof that this car was built for just one purpose. It looks all as new and is in excellent condition. It has matching blue carpet and floor mats, door panels, rear matching blue seat, the blue factory dash with all the stock gauges and instrumentation, the 4-speed shifter on the floor, stock radio, and blue seatbelts. heres plenty of room in the Fury as there is a large trunk with a correct mat and matching spare tire with jack assembly, so its also great for road trips. Exterior Most guys wouldnt expect a plain-jane looking car like this to stomp them on the street, but thats exactly what you can do with this Fury! These sleepers fooled a lot of people back then and that is what you can do today. Ours is re-painted in Ivory paint that looks super on the straight body lines, and super bodywork, showing good gaps and is probably shinier than it ever was in 1965, and it almost seems inappropriate to go around stomping on Mustangs and Camaros with a car like this. The chrome and trim presents well even though it is sparse, as it should be on a race-inspired car. Conclusion The Plymouth Fury I we have we have here at Adventure Classics is a great example of what happened when Plymouth dropped big block power into its cars and went racing. This is a rust-free Fury that received a complete top to bottom professional restoration as well as the drivetrain swap and also includes much documentation that goes with it including Build Sheets and other factory documentation too. Hard to go wrong with a car that looks this good, goes this fast, and costs so little. Call today!
