Exteriorrefinishedin 2-stageblackpaintbackin 2015andshowsremarkablywell. Theinteriorisredvinyl. Atonneaucoverwithribispresent. Later Midgetseatsareinstalledandthebatteryhasbeenrelocatedbehindthedriversseatunderthevehicle. Thevehicleretainsthe Europeanignitionunderthedashandreartaillights. Fendermountedchromesidemirrorsandblacksteelwheelswithchrome moonstylecapshighlightingtheoriginalchromebumpersandgrille. Previousownershipof 50plusyears. Thisvehiclewaspurchasedin 1966by Mr. Hornefromareturning GIwhohadpurchasedthevehiclein Europeandtransporteditbackhome. Afewyearslater, Mr. Hornesoldthevehicletoafriend. Mr. Hornethenpurchaseditbackfromthefriendfor $100in 1974andperformeda2-yearcosmeticandmechanicalrebuild. Thevehiclewasrepaintedintheoriginallacquerpaint. Mr. Horneclaimeditwashiscrowningaccomplishment,whichanotefromhiswifesupportsit. Thelacquerpaintdidnothold wellinthe FLclimatewhichresultedinitbubblingandcracking. Uponmovingto NCin 1986,thevehiclewasstoredinhisbarnuntil 2014andanotherbuildwascommissioned. Theentirebodywasdisassembled,professionallystripped, paintandreassembled. Allthemechanicalworkperformedin 1976wasstillingreatshape. After 52yearsoffastidiousownership, 2restorations,a25-30yearrestandarecenthealthcheckbyanEnglishcarexpert,thisvehicleisreadyfora newchapter. Apairoffoldersdocumentingtherebuilds,mileagerecords,mechanicaldrawings,compressioncharts,flowchartsforcarbadjustmentsareincludedtosupportthelevelofcarethisvehiclehadreceived. Mr. Horneand Mr. Beattywerebrothers-in-law,as theymarriedsistersandtheir love ofvehicles,racingandtheirwivesisapparent.
