Classic Car Overview
A project we are doing and, of course, can be sold and finished exactly as a prospective buyer wishes.
This is what we have: an abandoned project....sitting for seven years. One of the last pull handle cars BUT with the better five main bearing engine. Engine had not run in years....just disassembled, standard rod and main bearings and no visual wear on the crankshaft, standard pistons....it DOES appear that the car has a genuine 26,000 miles, even the clutch disc and throw out bearing had very little wear. Excellent body and very very good BRG paint (just wet sanded and buffed), new factory floors (hence, zero rust), no doubt painted years ago but not a single bubble or crack anywhere, and went over the body with a magnet, rockers, quarters, wheel surrounds, even around the headlights and found no indication of plastic filler. And with the engine out, we steam cleaned and sanded the engine bay and just repainted it in a matching deep green.
Has wire wheels, new carpets, excellent dash top, all correct gauges and switches, zero rust in trunk, and only 26,000 miles from new.
Our plans: first, engine is being rebuilt. As a 1965 MGB, has the most powerful engine ever fitted to a roadster....98 hp. And this car currently has a 45 DCOE Weber carb which we can retain or convert to either twin SUs (as original) or a downdraft 32/36 DGV Weber.
Wiring harness is almost like new....as fabric covered, often serves as lunch or dinner for varmints over the years. But not this car which was always garaged. The original wiring is VERY impressive.
We plan on replacing all of the brakes and improving the car with a new dual master brake cylinder. Wire wheels appear to be nearly new, they will get new tires of the correct size. Transmision was bench tested, seemed fine but we are having it rebuilt with new bearings, synchronizer rings, gaskets, etc. We are now redoing the original low back seats, front and rear bumpers and overriders are now new. And fit a new top and tonneau cover...when done, will be an excellent early MGB that should be capable of many years of enjoyment. Great handling, light precise steering, over 100 mph performance,, sure braking, and easy to service and maintain.
The car will also be converted to negative ground, fitted with a modern magnetic induction ignition, and lots of other small details. And as the owner of a virtually identical 1965 MGB, it has been one of the best overall classic sports car I have ever owned.
Car is in our shop, work being done, and we welcome a discussion on finishing work. With final price determined by the way the car is finished.
We offer financing at competitive rates. Inquire for details.
