Classic Car Overview

1965 Mercury Comet Caliente The Comet was originally planned as an Edsel model. Ford announced the end of the Edsel program on November 19, 1959. However, production of 1960 Edsels continued until late November. The Comet was reassigned to the Lincoln-Mercury division to sell at Mercury-Comet dealerships, where it was marketed as a stand-alone product for 1960 and 1961 as the Comet without any Mercury divisional badging. Simply stunning is the only way to describe this award-winning Mercury Comet Resto Mod. No expense was spared, or corners cut on this 2014 build. Just 1,650 miles have been driven since the completion of this spectacular muscle car. Exterior The flawless black paint is base coat clear coat with a specially built hood from a 1973 Dodge Challenger. All chrome was done to perfection by Librandi plating with all stainless refinished by Polish This. Chrome Chip Foose Wheels complete the exterior appearance of the build. Interior The interior sports a restored by Classic Instruments cluster with special tach built into the speedometer. An Ididit adjustable steering column makes entry for any size driver. A special 1966 Chevy Impala console is finished off with an aluminum shift plate. All seating is done in contrasting leather to the exact pattern of the 1965 Comet. The front buckets are 1968 Ford Torino. An AM/FM radio with Bluetooth and MP3 capability provides the sound. Drivetrain Starting with the power plant, the owner chose the 650hp 572ci Chevy crate motor powered through a Tremec TKO five-speed gearbox. A Ford 9-inch rear with 350 positraction complete the drive line. Cold air induction is provided by Spectre Performance with Wizard aluminum radiator cooling. Undercarriage The frame is a 2x3 boxed rectangular configuration with front and rear suspension by Martz chassis. 12-inch Wilwood drilled and vented disc brakes are positioned on the front and 14-inch Wilwoods on the rear. Steering is provided by a power rack and pinion unit. An immaculately restored example using many parts that combine together to create this unique resto mod. Perfect paint, and seams and construction, interior and exterior are tough to beat. A true show stopper, head turner, and 1 car parade when driving down Main Street. Come to Classic Auto Mall and hop on this bandwagon.
