This 1965 Lotus Elan S2 is an outstanding and remarkably complete restoration candidate. It is an original California black-plate car showing 34,537 believed-original miles, last registered in 1983, and includes a California pink-slip title. A remarkably unmolested example ideal for a proper restoration
Nearly everything appears intact and original. All interior knobs, switches, and gauges are present. All exterior badging is present. Soft-top frame remains with the car
The car is equipped with its original Weber-carbureted engine. The engine does not currently turn over by hand, though the gearbox shifts through all gears freely. The vacuum lines for the headlight pods, horns, airbox and trunking, wiring, original jack and handle, and spare tire are all still in placefurther evidence of its completeness.
The chassis is very solid, showing only surface rust and no signs of structural damage. All suspension mounting points appear straight and healthy. The car retains what appear to be its original steering-rack rubber boots.
Cosmetically, the paint appears original, and the panel gaps are excellent. The fiberglass body is in good condition, providing an excellent structural starting point. The windshield and side glass are original and free of major defects.
Overall, this is an exceptionally complete, highly original S2 Elanan ideal platform for a high-quality restoration.
