Classic Car Overview

1965 Ford Mustang Hardtop

For consignment, a 1965 Ford Mustang hardtop showing 41,079 miles, but the true miles are unknown due to a title exemption. This car has some racing history and early in 2026, had the entire fuel system rebuilt or updated along with other work to sort this for the next owner.

Exterior
This one has some race inspired additions including wide, white stripes over the Medium Blue Metallic paint, GT rocker stripes on the side, and a GT350R front apron that leaves a gaping air intake for the radiator. There are inboard fog lights behind the beehive grille and hood pins up top. Unmistakable tail lights reside in the panel out back over a valance that lacks reverse lights but retains the striped configuration of blue and white under the straight bumper. 15-inch American Racing Torque Thrust wheels have black centers and polished rims with a chrome center cap and would make any car look faster while fender emblems warn of a high performance 289. Imperfections include some rust bubbling on the roof, including by the A-pillars and along the pillars themself, pitted metal on handles and mirrors, paint chips and scratches throughout, rusted spots on hood, decklid, sides, and in drip rails, areas of orange peel, bubbling on trunk lid and roof, rust through at wheel opening, rear fender, and on side.

Interior
The drivers door panel is missing but the black vinyl piece on the passenger side is in place and clean, framed in the exterior blue paint. Inside, black vinyl bucket seats of a more modern vintage occupy the front and are in great shape as they flank a sizable center console with cupholders. In the back, the more original looking rear bench is also in very nice condition. Up front, a wood rimmed Grant GT steering wheel heads up the control area where a tachometer perches in front of the standard speedometer which is flanked by gauges including a modern gas gauge. The blue painted dash also houses an AM/FM/CD radio and a tri-pack of gauges down below. A Hurst shifter resides on the transmission tunnel over newer black carpet in good shape and the headliner above is high and tight. The trunk shows some surface rust and houses the battery, while the aforementioned rust on the decklid becomes more evident with lid up.

Drivetrain
The star of the show is the 302ci V8 under the hood, now featuring Ford Racing aluminum heads and an Edelbrock intake wearing an rebuilt Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor. Its mated to a C6 3-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the Ford 8 in back with 2.80 gears. Power brakes, MSD ignition and headers are apparent in this clean engine bay.

Undercarriage
Generally clean underneath though we note tears and rust holes in the pans as well as some on a frame brace. Dual exhaust runs through stock style mufflers and power brakes are configured as front disc and rear drum. Suspension consists of coil springs up front and leaf springs with traction bars in back.

Drive-Ability
The aluminum headed 302 comes to life without issue and renders a hearty exhaust note as we take a lap on the test loop to find good power, straight tracking, and braking thats on point. Things that dont work include the radio, brake lights, and gas gauge. All other functions on this 65 work as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

Heres one you can drive and enjoy and not worry about the fuel lines, pressure regulator, fuel hose, and filter as theyve all been replaced. This is certainly an eye-catching design and features a clean and comfortable interior youll enjoy on the way to the car show!
