Given that the 21st century has seen a sort of return to the roots aspect for the Mustang, it was probably only a matter of time before the Boss 302 made a return. Over the last few years there's been steady and growing interest in the concept of a new-age Trans Am Special.

1982 Mustang GT

Jim Clarke led the charge with the creation of the 5.0 HO V8 for the Mustang in 1982 and was responsible for the continuous improvement of the 5.0 throughout the '80s. What Jim and his team accomplished is truly amazing.

Classic Car Overview

Selling price based on costs to acquire the car and its new parts listed below.

This car has a 302 V8 with Holley 4 barrel, headers, MSD distributor, 5 speed Tremec transmission.

Engine code D10E-6015-AA  translates to 1971 Torino as the donor.

Lights, horn, turn signals all work

Runs, drives fine, needs a new home. Nice smooth idle with deep rumble due to headers and new mufflers/exhaust piping.  It will nicely squeal the rear tires on demand.

The car was purchased at a local auction, as the neighbor was moving from the area and selling house, cars and household goods. The car was not in very good condition, with rust on many interior and exterior panels.   Purchased with exterior and interior parts to repair this condition--- the makeover started.

It had the 302 V8 with headers and an automatic transmission at that time.

The front fenders were removed, the rear quarter panels were removed, the passenger door was rusted through.  These were all replaced, along with inner and outer rear wheel well metal, rear trunk panels.

Along the way it got a new suspension rubber- front and rear, all new rear leaf springs and bushings with all 4 new shocks.

A full sanding then epoxy primer, and urethane black cherry paint.

I didn't like the performance with the automatic transmission so I replaced with a Tremec 5 speed.  Currently less than 100 miles, those go up as I periodically drive the car.

On reassembly it got new weather stripping, new emblems, new bumpers, complete new interior-carpet-seats-headliner, steering wheel (a little smaller than original), new front windshield (as old one was cracked).

New wheels and tires --205/65-15 in front and 225/60-15 in rear, mounted on American chrome thrust wheels.

Its still a project. I continue to work on minor items, like polishing paint and adjustments.

It could use a new rear window (current one has too many scratches).

No radio, blank plate installed, but a new antenna and 3 new speakers.

Need a new spare tire and jack.

The new parts list:

The 5 speed Tremec transmission was just installed with new clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing, shifter and driveshaft. (this is a $4000+ package)

All new exterior body panels except hood and driver door, including new trunk panels around gas tank.

Inner and outer rear wheel well metal

All 4 interior floor pan panels are new

New suspension parts--front bushings and arms, idler arm, tie rods, rear leaf springs and bushings

All 4 Shocks are new

Windshield and trim are new

Front wheel bearings

Tail lights, turn signal lights, head lights and buckets

Seat upholstery.  (A Pony type with new foam padding)
