1965 Ford Mustang
Given that the 21st century has seen a sort of return to the roots aspect for the Mustang, it was probably only a matter of time before the Boss 302 made a return. Over the last few years there's been steady and growing interest in the concept of a new-age Trans Am Special.
Jim Clarke led the charge with the creation of the 5.0 HO V8 for the Mustang in 1982 and was responsible for the continuous improvement of the 5.0 throughout the '80s. What Jim and his team accomplished is truly amazing.

The 65 Fastbacks are appreciating in value much faster then your average mustang or later fastback. The 289 V8 runs very smooth and has that distinctive Ford lope with the mustang trumpet exhaust system. Paired to the 4 speed Toploader transmission, this car is a blast to drive and easy to maneuver and park. The black vinyl interior with bucket seats and the angled gear shifter make this Mustang very comfortable to drive as you shift through gears. The gear shifter is exactly where you need it to be! Ford developed the Mustang for a special mid-season debut at the New York Worlds Fair in April 1964. The resulting attention, and Mustangs instant appeal among consumers, made this one of the most memorable new car introductions in history. The 1965 Mustang set an all-time record for first-year sales of any new model. Todays auto market is too fragmented with different types of cars for a single model to ever get the wildly enthusiastic reception of the first Ford Mustang in America. Contrasting with the mystique of the Corvette convertible, the practical coupe or hardtop was the most popular Mustang body style, far outselling the convertible. Ford correctly read the market for a new type of car in the early 1960s. Baby boomers were reaching driving age, more families were buying second cars, and women and single people were buying cars. Many new-car buyers were looking for economical models with flair, excitement, and optional equipment that enhanced comfort and performance. Ford developed the Mustang with these criteria in mind. Lean and sporty, it was more sophisticated than Fords first compact car, the Falcon, and it had some of the Thunderbirds panache. The 1965 Mustang was chosen as the pace car for the 1964 Indianapolis 500 race, and a Mustang convertible was used in the popular James Bond movie Goldfinger, alongside an exotic Aston Martin sports car. This was the type of car that auto executives and dealers often dream about -- the right car for the right time.
