  • Presented in red over a black leather interior; originally finished in Rosso Cina
  • Accompanied by a tool roll and history report from marque expert Marcel Massini

Superseding the venerable 250 GT series of front-engine Ferraris, the new 275 grand tourer debuted at the 1964 Paris Auto Show with the promise of providing a more luxurious driving experience. Powered by a 3.3-litre Colombo V-12 that was good for 280 PS, 453 examples of the GTB were built. The desirable short-nose Series I variant accounted for 250 of those.

Initially remaining in its home country, the short-nose example offered here was originally configured in beautiful Rosso Cina over Nero Connolly hide and was delivered in March 1965 via Gastone Crepaldi of Milan. Days later, at the start of April, the car was sold to Ms Rosa Conti in the city of Como. Her ownership was only brief, though, for she sold the car to Angela Maria Mottola of Milan in June of the following year. Acquired next by Mr Renzo Italo Burco in October 1967, the Ferrari was transacted again in August 1968 when it was purchased by Briton and fellow Varese resident Mr Peter Herbert.

Per the accompanying history report compiled by marque authority Marcel Massini, this 275 GTB visited the Ferrari Factory Assistenza Clienti in Modena at the end of the month for servicing before returning for another checkup in October. Reportedly, during Mr Herberts ownership, the car was revised with the fitment of a long-nose front clip.

Chassis number 06897 then moved to Switzerland in the late 1990s, when it was sold via official marque dealer Garage Znith in Sion to Mr Roland Gasser of Vaud. After a little over a decade of ownership, he returned the Ferrari to Garage Znith in May 2010. There, it was mechanically overhauled. A new owner bought the GTB in 2012 prior to the bodywork being restored, and returned to short-nose form, by the famed Bacchelli and Villa at Carrozzeria Auto Sport in Bastiglia. Accordingly, in May 2013 the car gained prestigious Ferrari Classiche certification that noted its matching-numbers engine.

Registered to a Belgian from September 2013, the 275 GTB was repainted red before making a string of appearances in the Zoute Grand Prix rally between 2016 and 2019 in addition to being displayed at the Spa Classic race meeting in 2018. From between 2020 and 2023, the Ferrari was subject to 460,086-worth of further restoration work by Autos Collection Sport of Artigues-prs-Bordeaux. Later exhibited at Retromobile in Paris in February 2024, the Ferrari was acquired by the vendor in Germany and enjoyed on the 275 GTB 60th anniversary celebratory tour from Munich to Tegernsee.

Recognised by Ferrari Classiche for having retained its matching-numbers engine and duly offered with its important Red Book , chassis 06897 is further accompanied by a tool roll. Presented in the classic red-over-black colour combination, this 275 GTB is poised to add to its participations in driving and display events under the care of its next enthusiast owner.
