Classic Car Overview
Factory Five 1965 AC Cobra Replica for sale. Car is a MK4 Roadster purchased as a kit in 2015 from Factory Five Racing. It is currently titled and registered in the state of Colorado as a 2018 assembled vehicle. It has a clean title, no accidents, and currently sits at approximately 1000 miles. Asking price is $56,500. Will include free enclosed transport to your location (continental US only) with any full price offer. If you don't need or don't want transportation I'll reduce the $56,500 price accordingly up to a maximum of $1500.
This is a one-owner car. Build-up of the car was accomplished by the owner, who is Mechanical Engineer with 35 years of experience in the aerospace industry. Extensive build records were kept, including thousands of photos that were taken throughout the build process. The kit was received in the summer of 2015 and the car was titled/registered in the summer of 2018, so the build process was completed over the course of three years.
Bodywork and paint were professionally done by Miller Customs in Temecula, CA. Jeff Miller is a renowned painter of Cobra replicas; he has completed more than 750 cars over many years and has accumulated the expertise necessary to achieve the best results. The quality of his work speaks for itself. The main body color is solid black, the stripes are a metallic dark gray, and the entire car is protected by three layers of clearcoat. The stripes are painted underneath the clearcoat (not a decal) and are present on both the top and bottom surfaces of the hood and trunk. The entire front-facing portion of the car is protected with XPEL paint protection film, and all painted surfaces have been further protected by a professionally applied ceramic coating.
Interior is fully insulated with KoolMat underneath the carpet and is finished out in high-grade automotive black leather, which covers the seats, dashboard, center console, and door panels. Features include a full Speedhut gauge package (speedometer, tachometer, oil pressure, coolant temperature, voltage, fuel, and clock), as well as LED indicators for turn signals, flashers, high beams, battery charge status, line lock, and a check engine light. Climate control is provided by a heater with separate electronic controls for fan speed and temperature. An RFID keyless start button and a functional glove box round out the dashboard. Other features include a Russ Thompson turn signal system, a main electrical shutoff switch, a wireless Bluetooth audio system, an NRG quick release steering wheel adapter, and an in-cockpit balance bar adjuster for adjusting front/rear brake bias. Schroth Racing 4-point seat belts with push-button release and anti-submarine technology complete the interior.
Engine/Fuel Management System
Engine is a 427-cubic inch Ford Racing M-6007-Z427FFT-FRT crate engine, purchased new for this project in June 2015. Engine features a Ford Boss engine block, forged steel internals, hydraulic roller camshaft, and is rated by Ford at 535 horsepower and 545 ft-lbs torque. 535 HP in a car that weighs 2400 lb produces a pounds-per-horsepower ratio of 4.5, better than any production car you can buy for less than $100,000. Fuel management system is a Pro-M Racing mass air sequential port EFI setup, which includes a Pro-M designed ECU, intake manifold, 4-bbl throttle body, mass air meter, 42# fuel injectors, billet fuel rails, Mallory distributor, complete EFI wiring harness, and two wide band O2 sensors. This is a fully computer-controlled and OBDII-compliant system, including onboard diagnostics, an OBDII port, a check engine light, and Windows or Mac-based software that can be used to scan trouble codes and to tune the system if desired. The fuel delivery system includes a Walbro 255-lph in-tank pump, rigid 3/8” stainless steel supply and return lines, and an Aeromotive adjustable external fuel regulator. This is an absolute high-end fuel management system that rivals anything produced by the OEMs. The cost of this option alone is over $4000.
Exhaust manifolds are custom made long-tube headers constructed from seamless 304 stainless steel tubing. They include double collectors with welded O2 sensor ports in both sides. Side pipes are supplied by Boig (referred to by Boig as ‘quiet pipes’), are ceramic coated black, and covered by a set of custom heat shields, also ceramic coated black. Exhaust tone is authoritative without being obnoxious. The attached YouTube video includes audio of the car at idle.
Transmission is a 5-speed Tremec TKO600 (TCET-5008) with a 0.64:1 overdrive (5th gear) and a McLeod Racing midshift conversion. Rated at 600 ft-lbs of torque, it’s well matched to the output of the Ford Racing 427. Clutch is a RAM 88794T with a Quicktime 6065 SFI-compliant steel bellhousing. Starter is a Powermaster Ultra Torque high speed unit. Transmission is connected to the rear end with a high strength steel driveshaft enclosed by a heavy-duty steel driveshaft loop. Differential is a limited slip 8.8” Eaton Detroit Truetrac with Ford Racing 3.55 gears. Differential also includes an aluminum Ford Racing differential cover with axle girdles.
Chassis is a Factory Five Racing jig-welded original style 4” round tube frame with optional gloss black powder coating. Front suspension includes unequal length A-arm control arms with Koni coil-over shocks. Independent rear suspension includes a welded tubular steel IRS frame, Koni coil-over shocks, upper and lower control arms, CV axles, and Ford T-Bird based aluminum center section. Brakes are supplied by Wilwood Engineering, 12.88” 6-piston fronts and 12.19” single piston rears, powder coated red. Pedal box is also from Wilwood and utilizes separate master cylinders for front and rear brakes along with a remote balance bar adjuster mounted in the cockpit. Electro-hydraulic power rack-and-pinion steering with adjustable assist completes the chassis.
Wheels are Factory Five-supplied Halibrand replica wheels that have been powder coated to match the body stripe color, 17x9 front and 17x10.5 rear. Tires are Goodyear Eagle F1, 255/45R17 front and 315/35R17 rear.
All LED lighting, including headlights, parking lights, turn signals, and all interior lighting. High strength fasteners used throughout. Includes many, many other options not described above (oil cooler, wheel well liners, line lock, fully finished trunk, polished aluminum sheet metal panels, front mount battery, remote battery charging port, wind wings, billet side mirrors, paint-matched tonneau cover, etc).
This is an exceptional car, conscientiously built
with the highest quality components available, and offered for a price that’s
far below the cost of just the components themselves. It has the appearance of a show car, the
performance of a race car, and the reliability and driveability of a daily
driver. It is fully de-bugged, well
mannered, no leaks, squeaks, quirks, or other problems. This is a modernized version of the original
Cobra - cool, clean, custom. There are
many replica Cobras out there for sale, but very few with this combination of
attributes. Act quickly before it’s
gone. Serious inquiries only, please.
