1927 Chrysler Guide

In just a few short years, Walter P. Chrysler took his company from an unknown automotive manufacturer to fourth in the industry. Walter Chrysler was a perfectionist with a deep mechanical background. This aspect, probably more than anything, helped to make Chrysler Corporation grow quickly.

Classic Car Overview

This 1965 Dodge 880 coupe has the right combination of style, size, and rarity that makes mid-60s Mopars so special. From the handsome lines to a big 383 V8, this hardtop is a seldom-seen Dodge that delivers big-car comfort in one sleek package. History is on your side with this Dodge. 1965 was the last year for the 880 model range and there were only about 4,800 pillarless hardtop coupes produced. So a car this complete is a truly rare find today. These full-sized cars have a special feeling this year. Mopars were transitioning from exotic designs to something a bit more conservatively attractive, and this is a very cool middle point in that evolution. The front end has a very authoritatively straight style, but it also lets the bumpers dip to artfully highlight the now crystal clear headlights. The sides are arrow-straight with the full-length trim zooming the full profile. You can see this so well because the black paint was a quality application done later in life. That means a gloss look right now, but nothing to make you too nervous to take away from the easy cruising attitude. This stylish driver-ready nature goes right down to the upgraded 17-inch wheels that also let you fit better modern tires. A deep red interior is a great look against the deep black exterior. So youll love leaving all the windows down on this pillarless hardtop just to show off the full package. Velour seats, newer carpeting, a good headliner, and a terrific dash pad help make for an inviting style. Youll even appreciate the little things, like the working courtesy lights and an R134a air conditioner. A full-size classic means true comfort and plenty of room in the rear to make this a cruiser everyone can enjoy. But when youre cruising solo, its also easy to just fold down the armrest and have an individual level of comfort. And everything from the dual gauge pod to the classic steering wheel reminds you that Mopars always had their own sense of style. This was built at the dawn of the muscle car era, and this one celebrates it correctly. 1965 was the first year the 383 cubic-inch big block was offered here, and this one has a style thats ready to be showcased. The smooth red inner fenders draw your eye to the V8 in the middle, and all the dark style looks quite nice - including the Mopar valve covers and matching long air grabber. This motor was rebuilt in 2014 and they added power with a Holley double-pumper four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock Performer 383 intake, and headers. Plus, the mild cam makes for better internals and a great sound out of the dual exhaust. You also have good supporting components, like HEI distributor w/Flamethrower coil, a separate trans cooler, and Mopars classic double-belt system. The Torqueflite A727 three-speed transmission was rebuilt around the same time as the motor. Its a setup that knows how to handle the power, and at the same time, deliver easy automatic shifting. Out on the road, the power steering and power brakes mean theres plenty of comfort, too. Complete with build receipts, this is the rare, interesting, and full-size Mopar hardtop thats irresistibly priced. Call today!!!
