Classic Car Overview

This unsurpassed 1965 A-990, code W01 Dodge Coronet, was built by renowned fabricator Brian Dickey of Dickey Hot Rods-a painstakingly correct creation with obsessive attention to every imaginable detail. Dale Reed prepared a 528 Cubic inch Hemi engine and boasts 630 HP with 630 ft lbs. of torque. Components include: Mopar Performance block and aluminum heads topped with a Stage 5 polished valve cover, A & A Cross Ram intake with two Holley 770 CFM carburetors sporting original factory-style air cleaners that are fed by 3/8 fuel lines from the new galvanized fuel tank and pump through the 3/8 Mallory Hi-Flow fuel pump. Also, Comp Cams camshaft with hydraulic lifters; Fluidampr harmonic balancer; Melling high volume oil pump; Milodon deep sump oil pan. Cooling is achieved via a Mopar Performance aluminum high-volume water pump, along with a correct Date Code radiator, shroud, and fan. The freshly built 727 Automatic Transmission is equipped with Gear Vendor overdrive, which allows great freeway driving. Meticulously fitted with the mini tubbed body frame, the Dana 60 Sure Grip differential, in high gloss black powder coat, allows the power to hit the road via its 4:11 axle ratio. All suspension components are correct, the K-frame is exactly detailed, and powder-coated. Energy Systems ball-joints and fittings; A-arms rebuilt; Tri-City leaf springs; American Racing Torque-Thrust wheels-15x7 front / 15x10 rear with Mickey Thompson tires, then stopping is delivered with disc brakes at all four corners. The laser-straight 1965 Coronet body was stripped, media blasted, and primed with PPG DP90, then finished with a topcoat of striking PPG Viper red by Jeff Johnson at Carlsbad Village Auto Body. Other distinguishing features include all-new chrome and polished stainless trim, as well as a correct single-headlight super-stock grill with a glistening ANO-BRITE finish. The correct and new Champaign interior was completed by Danny Romo of Irwindale, California. AS an original A-990, the seats are from an A-100 Dodge van that is covered in the factory vinyl. Dash gauges were sent to Redline Instruments for restoration, then reassembled into their newly re-chromed / refurbished gauge bezels. New wiring harness from M&H Electric Fabricators. A trunk-mounted forklift battery aids weight transfer. A 32-page full appraisal report by Jeff Hyman of Classic Auto Appraiser is included, along with detailed receipts, a CD-ROM of build, and the issue of Maximum Driver Magazine (May 2015) where this 1965 Dodge Coronet was featured. Those who can remember the Dodge commercials of the mid to late 1960s, using the little old lady from Pasadena who would drive up in some Dodge performance car and say: Put a Dodge in your garage, Honey! couldnt have predicted that Brian Dickey would do just that again with this superb example, a half-century later. Built with a daily driver/racer concept, this Coronet has an 11-second potential, per Brian Dickey, builder. This is a true show and go; no detail was unattended.
