Classic Car Overview

1965 Chevrolet Nova 2 Door Sedan For consignment, a 1965 Chevrolet Nova 2 door sedan showing 72,872 miles which are not actual. Born with an inline six, this Nova has been transformed with a stroker V8. I was born blue and weathered but burst just like a supernova wrote Springsteen about how hard it is being a Saint in the City, but it wont be difficult in this high powered classic, once a common commuter in America, now king of the road. Exterior Arctic Weasel would not have made a good color name, so Ermine White takes its place to identify the coating on this car, and it presents cleanly with companion chrome elements that look like icy decoration. Theres room for improvement on some of the metalwork of the car and plenty of shine left to be brought out to match the quality pieces. By 60s standards, this is a small car with a square profile that is basic and handsome with panels that match in size including the longer door. The flat decklid falls abruptly to a flat back which lifts with trunk lid, taking with it the reverse lights and leaving the red taillights, simple and square, in place. The car rides on 14-inch Chevrolet Rally wheels which are in good condition and on this car, wear staggered size tires for a better footprint. Overall, the paint is good, with some imperfections noted such as uneven filler on a bottom edge, bubbling, cracking paint, paint run, plus various scratches and chips. Interior The door panels start us off in good condition with smooth sections and a ribbed panel, in all black with a polished mid trim piece. The front bucket seats are either entirely or partially covered so condition is questionable but certainly the upper of the passenger side is in good shape. The rear bench shows some patina but is intact while the package shelf is covered loosely with cloth. Up front, we have a Chevrolet steering wheel from the late 70s replacing what would have likely been a thin plastic rimmed unit, and its column is occupied by a Sun tachometer leading the charge in front of the speedometer and combination gas gauge with idiot lights, all on a painted black backdrop. The vintage AM radio in the center, despite its non-operation, is still cool and its embedded over an added triple gauge cluster under the dash. A Hurst shifter is floor mounted over black loop carpet in good condition and the textured headliner up above looks just fine. We find clean, barren conditions in the trunk which houses the battery in a secured box. Drivetrain A clean presentation is found underneath where a V8 now resides with room to spare! This one is a 383ci stroker per our consignor who states it puts out 400 horsepower. It receives the go juice via a Holley 4-barrel carb over and Edelbrock intake, while a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission with a 3500 rpm stall converter sends power to the 10 bolt rear axle with 4.11 gears and a spool for better traction. An aluminum radiator is on board to keep things cool and headers are here to send the exhaust fumes packing. Drum brakes are found on all four corners. Undercarriage The underside was sandblasted and painted and now wears a shiny coat of black and thats the only shine were seeing as no errant fluids are present and the pans are dry. The dual exhaust runs into stainless steel Flow FX mufflers by FlowMaster, ending stealthily behind the rear bumper. New ball joints and tie rods are in place while coil springs in front and leaf springs with traction bars compose of the Novas suspension. Drive-Ability We posted up on the soft seat, cranked the V8, and moved the Hurst into drive, and off we went, circling our test loop which includes a glass entrance from which our cars lights reflect and let us know which work and which dont, and in this case all lights work. The car has very good power and acceleration and handles quite well also. Wed kill for power disc brakes, but the drums do their job, and visibility is very good from this compact classic. As noted, the radio does not work and nor do the speedometer and odometer. All other functions, internal and external, work as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. There are three sure things, death, taxes, and the fact that Nova sell quite briskly at Classic Auto Mall, especially those that dont need much and are well sorted and powerful. And on the bingo card of desirable features, this car provides a complete row of dots! Just about everything born in 65 is better, (this writers bias), and this Chevy Nova is ready for another 60 years of fun. 113115N128422 1-Chevrolet 13-Chevy II 100, I6 11-2 Door Sedan 5-1965 N-Norwood, OH Assy Plant 128422-Sequential Unit Number Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in a climate controlled 336,000-square foot showroom (thats more than 8 acres!).
