1965 Chevrolet Malibu

Every once in a blue moon we come across an incredibly well-preserved, very low-mileage example of a classic 60s car. This well documented Malibu is just such a car that has been in long-term climate-controlled storage and was always properly maintained. A genuine must see to believe car.



This 1965 Chevelle Malibus incredibly clean, arrow-straight and rock-solid body proudly wears its gorgeous factory Artesian Turquoise paint. The chrome and stainless-steel trim are likewise stunning, and a set of era-correct Cragar S/S wheels wearing modern Michelin rubber finish it off nicely. The original steel wheels with dog dish caps go with the car.



Swing open a door and youll think youve stepped into the interior shot of the 1965 Chevelle brochure. Everything from the headliner to the dash, to the door panels, carpet and upholstery looks factory fresh. Youll also see that this Malibu was ordered as a stripper -- no radio and even a credit for front seat belt delete.



Note that the car comes with plenty of original documentation including the window sticker, retail order, Protect-O-Plate and ownership history records.



Originally equipped with a straight six and 3-on-the-tree, this sharp Chevelle underwent a powertrain upgrade to a date-coded GM vintage small block with L79 upgrades mated to a wide-ratio Muncie M-20 transmission. Thanks to a neat install and an incredibly clean engine compartment, it looks like it was born this way. Of course there is a a set of headers and a dual exhaust system that provides a proper muscle car soundtrack.



Out on the road, this Chevelle runs great. The four-speed manual adds to the fun as you run it through the gears. Manual steering and manual drum brakes add to the old-school muscle car driving experience. Imagine if, back in 1965, you wanted a sleeper so you ordered a plain-Jane Malibu and had the dealership swap in the hottest 327 and a 4-speed. Thats what we have here. This car is a real hoot to drive and we imagine it showed its taillights to many a muscle car of its era.
