1965 Chevrolet Corvette
Car for sale by Carroll St Auto & Collectibles in Manchester, New Hampshire 03102
The 1967 Corvette is considered the most-loved Corvette ever produced. The combination of classic C2 styling, along with an incredible array of powertrain and comfort options, makes it one of the most desirable Corvettes ever. Not bad for a car that was never supposed to be made!
The ZR-1's production run from 1990-95 was one of the most exciting times for Corvette enthusiasts in recent memory. In the mid-1980s, rumors of a "King of the Hill" Corvette began to leak out of Detroit and into America's speed shops and dealerships.
Classic Car Overview
Among the Mid-year Corvettes, the 1965 model year stands out for a few reasons. It would be the last year (until 1982, anyway) for the fuel injection option, the first year for a big block (396 cubic-inch) engine option, and the first year for four-wheel disc brakes. Compared to the four-wheel drum brakes of prior years, the discs provided much stronger and more fade-resistant braking, not to mention more driver confidence while unraveling a twisty road or turning laps on the track.
This beautiful 1965 Corvette roadster underwent a fastidious frame-off, nut-and-bolt restoration approximately 11 years ago with minimal miles added since. A stack of receipts as well as a small photo album showing the restorations progress are included and are indicative of the restorers attention to detail nature.
The gleaming Goldwood Yellow paint is accented with a white soft top and both are pristine, as is the impressive underside. Correct spinner style wheel covers, sparkling emblems and dazzling bright work provide additional pizzazz. Inside, its the same story; youll think you stepped back into 1965 when you slide behind the Corvettes handsome three-spoke wheel and sit upon the firm, as-new seat. The original and working AM/FM radio adds further to the time warp vibe.
Under the hood, the numbers-matching powertrain features the optional, up-level 327/300 horsepower V8 matched to a 4-speed manual transmission that sends those horses to a Positraction rear end. As expected, the engine starts, idles and runs smoothly with a nice burble coming out of the twin chrome exhausts. The suspension and brakes are similarly fresh and as a result the Corvette drives fantastic.
This is simply one of the nicest Mid-year Corvettes weve ever seen. Picture yourself running up and down through the gears while cruising through winding backroads with the top down, stopping at an old ice cream stand to enjoy a cone while other patrons steal admiring glances at this gorgeous 65 vette.
