1965 RIVIERA GRAN SPORT I have been asked by the owner of this car to handle all questions that any one may have about the car. I have owned about 75 of these cars since 1981 when I bought my first one which was a 63. I have restored several and Had 2 1965 Riviera Gran Sports that took " Best of Shows" at the Riviera Nationals. The owner of this car has owned it for more than 32 years. This Gran Sport comes loaded with many options : AC, PW, PS,P Seat, P Vents, P Ant, Custom Interior, Gran Sport option, Am/Fm, Chrome Wheels, Cruise Control, Electronic Eye, Wood Wheel, 4 Note Horn. All options are working. The car was restored in 2003 in time for the Buick Motor Car Division's 100th. year anniversary at the Sloan Museum in Flint Michigan. This car is originally from New Mexico and was brought to the Flint Michigan area in the early 80's. The car had a body off restoration and engine rebuild. The stripping of the body found no rust or any repairs to the body. This includes the areas that normally have some rust like the rear window area. The car was painted the original "N" code laguer Burgandy Mist. It was also clear coated which was not original for 1965. The interior is coded 629 which is Saddle vinyl. The interior was replaced by the previous owner and he chose to do it in cloth and not the original vinyl. Thirty plus years ago they didn't have the reproduction materials available like they do now. The material they chose looks very nice and they followed the original pattern for the custom interior. The dash and dash pad are in very good condition with no rips, cracks or water damage. The rear package shelf is also in very nice condition and does not have any rips, cracks or water damage. All door panels front and rear are also in very nice condition. The engine compartment was detailed when the car was painted and still looks very good. All engine compartment decals have been replaced with the correct reproductions. The owner also installed a dual master cylinder for safety. The old master cylinder comes with the car. The A/C was fixed and recharged with the new R134 by law. The original Gran Sport compressor had to be replace and comes with the car. The body paint and finish are in great condition and show very well. The fitting of all panels on the car also looks very good. The clam shell's work and are pit free as is most of the chrome on the car. The front and rear bumpers have been rechromed and NOS taillight bezels installed(very rare and original and not repro's) in the rear bumper. All stainless steel on the car that had dents were fixed and buffed out. All other script and monagram's were also buffed out. The trunk was redone with reproduction material and the decal for the jacking instructions is correct. There is also an original oem Fawn trunk mat and not a reproduction. This car was restored to original except for one thing. The owner had special wheels made for the rears that are 8 1/2 inchs wide. The best thing is there were no modifications to the car for these wheels. The size of the tires are 255X55 15's. The two original rims come with the car. The owners intent for this car was to enjoy it, drive it and take it to shows. He really enjoys driving this car. Just cruising with his wife and pulling into a car show and show his car. This Gran Sport draws a lot of people and many of them like the rear wheels. This is a great example of a turn key car. If you have any questions you can call me at 586-549-8813.
