If you're a fan of vintage Japanese cars, be sure to check out Nissan's online heritage site. There are tons of vintage Nissan pics and specs going all the way back to the 1920s. Each featured car or truck has relevant specs and a little "detail" tab that gives some background on that specific car.
The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. From a cargo carrier with no windows behind the driver's seat to a windowed passenger van with three rows of seats, the possibilities seemed endless.
Classic Car Overview
In 1962 Alfa Romeo introduced the 101 Series Spider named Giulia which replaced the outgoing 750 Series Giulietta Spider. The Giulia model had a larger 1600cc twin-cam motor, 5-speed transmission, front disk brakes, and revised Pininfarina styling. In 1964 the Veloce model was introduced alongside the Normale. Veloce spec added twin Weber carburetors and a host of other special parts and features greatly improving performance and yielding nearly a 24% increase in horsepower. Visually, the Spider Veloce gained a raised hood scoop to accommodate the taller 1600cc engine block. This was the distinguishable feature of the Giulia from its earlier Giulietta sister. A sole 'Veloce' emblem was located on the trunk lid indicating the high-performance edition. Steel tube headers, a finned oil pan, and a lightweight cast-alloy airbox were among the most obvious Veloce engine features. Other improvements included strengthened connecting rods, high-compression pistons, and performance camshafts.
This 1965 model Giulia Veloce was purchased by a Northwest Alfa Romeo Club member in 2008 and received a complete restoration which was completed at the end of 2011. The project was a true labor of love and the end result is a very attractive Spider which will win the heart of any Alfisti. The car was purchased out of California as a project and shipped up to WA State for restoration and its new home. The original color was a light yellow but to many enthusiasts an Alfa can only be red so Rosso Alfa it would become. The body was disassembled and blasted to bare metal. The hood is original to the car but a rear deckled had to be sourced during bodywork. Repair panels were welded in as needed to sills and floors. A complete and correct Veloce spec engine (no. AR00121* 024780) was sourced and fully rebuilt by Denny Pillar a well known Northwest Alfa shop. The 5-speed 101 type gearbox is believed original to the car. During the rebuild the electrical system was gone through and the distributor was updated to electronic. The suspension, brakes, exhaust, and cooling system, were all renewed. Inside the car, gauges were rebuilt and faces restored. New red wool carpets and correct rubber floor coverings were fitted. The dash, doors, and seats were all recovered and a new cloth soft top and rear curtain was installed. The chrome was all refinished, lamps and lenses replaced, and glass renewed as needed. Recently in December 2020 new Vredestein Sprint Classic tires have just been fitted and the car was driven on a 100 mile NW Alfa Club tour. All electrics function as intended, the heater works well, brakes and clutch feel good, and steering is tight.
The timeless Giulia Spider will reward you with its throaty exhaust notes and great road handling. This is a classic car that can be driven on today's freeways thanks to a 5-speed transmission and front disk brakes. The twin cam engine has no problem keeping up with traffic flow and is an absolute joy on twisty back roads. The Spider is an easy car to live with on a trip as well having a large rear trunk and a little cargo space behind the seats plus it has an easy to use soft top that does a good job of keeping the elements out. This Alfa is ready for its next owner and is all set to give you new adventures together so you can live La Dolce Vita to become a true Alfisti. Included with the sale are restoration photos, receipts, tool roll, spare wheel, jack, owners manual, shop manuals, 2 sets of keys, and collector books. The car has a clear WA title.
