This 1964 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible was purchased as a new vehicle on January 11, 1964 at Cook Volkswagen in Lexington, Kentucky and remained a one owner car until June 2023. Over the past nine months, the second owner has restored this gem to its current condition as a daily driver! The car was garaged for 45+ years.
Listed below are the items restored/repaired since last June 2023:
- 12 volt conversion
-Four new radial, wide whitewall tires
-New shock absorbers on all four wheels
-Original rims cleaned and powder coated in black satin paint
-New German-made floor pans
-New German reinforcement rails (left and right) installed
-Related fabrication restored
-New Canvas top (refurbished frame/new wood/new liner)
-New carpet
-New upholstery - front and rear seats
-New sun visors
-New rear assist straps
-New starter, condenser, coil, points, spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor installed and valves adjusted
-New rubber seals on exterior lights and fenders
-New battery
-New trunk liner and wiring cover
-New running boards (right and left)
-All brakes, turn signals, clutch, brake lights, steering, transmission, fuel system checked and restored where needed and all in excellent working order.
-Horn fixed
-Original owners manual included
Additionally, all below were installed as new during restoration:
Front wheel cylinder
Master cylinder
Light flasher
Motor mounts
Brake line at reservoir.
Engine compartment seal
Fuel tank filter and seal
Steering shock
Rear axle seals
Flywheel gland nut
Gear oil replaced.
Engine oil changed.
LF steel brake line
RF wheel bearing set
Engine main seal
Transmission fluid changed.
Brake fluid changed.
AND MORE!
A total of 165+ hours of labor has been performed to bring this classic back to full life. Current owner has driven the car over 1,000 miles after completed work. Drives extremely well.
The Wife says one of my two classics has to go.....Love the car! Very Much!.....so please understand, I am only selling this Rare car to keep the peace with the Mrs., but im keeping my sports car.
