From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.
The no-frills Savoy two-door sedan was home to another engine of considerable repute, the infamous 413 Max Wedge, a Super Stock monster block Chrysler introduced in the spring of 1962.

Classic Car Overview
1964 Shelby Daytona $495,000
The Secret Weapon: In 1964 Carroll Shelby askd renowned fabricator John Ohlsen to lengthen the chassis of one of the original 6 Daytona Coupes (CSX2286) to accept a NASCAR inspired 427 Big Block. The experimental racecar was supposd to be Shelby's "Secret Weapon" for the 1964 24 Hours of LeMans Race.
However, Destiny intervened when the truck carrying the Secret Weapon to LeMans was invlolved in an accident that damaged the Daytona too much to be repaired in time for the race. It was returned to small block configuration by Shelby American and never ran a lap with the Historic Big Block.
Shelby American and Shelby Legendary Cars will finish the "Secret Weapon" program that Carroll envisioned with a limited production of 6 Aluminum Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupes with Brand New Aluminum Big Blocks from Shelby Engine Company. These will be built to original chassis specifications of CSX2286.
The Body can be prepared in any finsih or livery requested by the owner. The pwoertrain recommended is a Shelby Engines 511 c.i.d. Big Block making 650HP, mated to a 4 Speed manual Transmission. The Engine will be serialized and the Daytona will go directly into the Official Shelby World Registry.
The Daytona Package will be $495,000 and will be sold on MSO. Please see the attached order sheet and pictures of CSX2620. Please contact us at www.HillbankUSA.com or call us at (949) 900-1960
