The Porsche 356 C, the final and most polished version of the iconic model, introduced a range of enhancements over its predecessors, including upgraded steering and suspension, along with four-wheel disc brakes. The flagship quad-camshaft Carrera 2 variant aside, the model was offered with the standard 1.6-liter engine and the more spirited, higher-compression Super Carrera or SC unit as seen in the example offered here.
According to its Kardex build record, this 356 SC Coupe was completed on 2 March 1964, finished in Hellelfenbein (Light Ivory) over black leatherette trim and optioned with a green-tinted windshield and chrome-plated, perforated steel wheels. Destined for sale in the United States, it was sold new through Porsche Cars Southwest of San Antonio, Texas, to P.S. Phillips, an employee of the Sun Oil Company (later Sunoco) in Houston.
The car is reported to have spent most of its life in the dry, car-friendly climate of the American Southwest, including a long stint with an Arizona enthusiast who is said to have commissioned a restoration in the 2000s. Upon its acquisition by Porsche Colorado Springs in late 2024, the dealerships factory-trained Porsche Classic technicians carried out a comprehensive pre-owned and Classic inspection and servicing totaling nearly $25,000. Invoices on file document this work as including the replacement of multiple seals, lines, clamps, and filters, adjustments to the carburetors and brakes, and the installation of new tires, battery, and exhaust. Importantly, following its inspection and servicing with Porsche Colorado Springs, the car was issued an official and highly coveted Porsche Classic Technical Certificate.
This authentic factory-built 356 SC, beloved by enthusiasts and verified by foremost Porsche experts, is now offered with a copy of its original Kardex, the Porsche Classic Technical Certificate, restoration photos from 2009, and parts and service invoices.
