Classic Car Overview

This 1964 Porsche 356C is a Reutter-built cabriolet that was assembled on August 28, 1963, and acquired by the seller in June 2003. The car has been repainted black over red leather and is powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four mated to a four-speed manual transaxle. Additional equipment includes a black soft top, yellow fog lights, chrome-finished 15 steel wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a 12-volt conversion, aftermarket dual carburetors, and a luggage rack. This 356C Cabriolet is offered with manufacturers literature, a battery maintainer, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean California title in the sellers name.

Finished from the factory in Light Ivory (6404), the car is said to have been repainted black in 2005. Exterior details include body-color bumpers with chrome guards as well as a black soft top, yellow fog lights, a luggage rack, front vent windows, dual side mirrors, twin engine-cover grilles, European-style taillight lenses, and dual exhaust outlets that exit through the rear overriders.

Chrome-finished 15 steel wheels feature Porsche crest hubcaps and are mounted with 195/65 Michelin X Radial Plus tires, while a full-size spare is stored in the front trunk compartment. The front calipers were rebuilt in 2021, while the rear rotors and brake pads were replaced in 2022.

Originally trimmed in black leather, the cabin houses front bucket seats and fold-down rear seats that have been reupholstered in red leather and are accompanied by a color-coordinated dashpad and door panels. Coco mats line the footwells, and additional appointments include front lap belts, a heater, and a clock. The push-button radio has been disconnected, per the seller.

The three-spoke steering wheel features a Porsche crest horn button and frames green-letter VDO instrumentation including a central tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline, a 120-mph speedometer, and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 73,600 miles, approximately 17k of which were added under current ownership.

The 1.6-liter flat-four was rebuilt in 2002 by European Collectibles of Costa Mesa, California, at which time the electrical system was converted to 12 volts. Work performed in 2022 reportedly involved installing aftermarket carburetors as well as a replacement fuel tank, ignition wires, and spark plugs.

The engine-case stamping reads P*710293*, which matches the number listed on the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.

Documentation accompanying the car includes manufacturers literature and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity detailing colors, equipment, drivetrain serial numbers, and production information.

Car is located in Laguna Beach, CA.
