Classic Car Overview

Sunnyside Chevrolet of Elyria, Ohio in conjunction with Gregs Sports, Classic, & Muscle is proud to offer for sale this beautiful 1964 Pontiac Lemans This one is a helluva story so please be patient as we go through the known history of this beautiful Yorktown Blue Lemans purchased new by David Blair on January 11th 1964 in California and used as a daily driver until 1972 when she was retired from daily use and became a part of the Blairs Pontiac collection. As the story goes, David was an engineer at Pontiac in 1964 and he bought this beautiful Lemans as a long-time keeper. Over the first few years of ownership David went on a mission to turn his 326 4-speed Lemans into a GTO just as would have come off the line in 64. He sourced parts directly from the Pontiac factory- power windows, air-conditioning, a power antenna under hood light, GTO hood and emblems, split exhaust, air shocks, a GM fire extinguisher and more. Already in from the factory- beautiful dark blue buckets and console interior, power steering, power brakes, and so much more. The story goes that when the car was about 4 years old David had the original paint on the Lemans clear coated. Its as it remains today. The original interior is still present and stunning, the original engine compartment is unmolested save for disposable replacement items. The chrome is as original as is the underside of the car. David was an avid Pontiac collector through the years as we understand and had amassed a fair number of cars and truckload after truckload of NOS parts- its our understanding that he was well known in the California Pontiac world. This is his first Pontiac. Look at the amazing paperwork- Protectoplate, owners manual, registration, warranty paperwork and even an advertisement from the selling dealer. An 8x10 photo of David with his car as he built it is a testament to how he must have felt about this car. When he was done with it the car was a GTO in his way of thinking. Period. We have a 1978 magazine article about him and his collection- he refers to this as his 64 GTO. Nuff said... When John and I first saw this car, we knew it was coming in the fold. Period. There are hundreds of reworked versions of 64 Pontiac Lemans and GTOs out there. Cars with history, patina and originality like this come by very infrequently and we will always be proud to own examples like this. Is it a Lemans, is it a GTO? You decide, we decided it was too important a car to worry about. Drive it, show it, keep it in a bubble and polish it as a prized possession, the choice is yours once you make it yours. We stand behind our thoughts on this car by offering our travel expenses guarantee- come see the car and if we have materially misrepresented its condition we will gladly pay half of your travel expenses up to $500.00- this offer had been in place since we sold our first classic and we havent paid the money yet.... We pride ourselves on having good cars and representing them properly. Additional pictures and video are available, please call 440-365-7311 for more photos, information or to schedule a test drive.
