This 1964 Pontiac GTO is a documented, authentic example finished in its correct Grenadier Red paint, as Pontiac Historic Services confirmed. As one of the original muscle cars, born from John DeLoreans insistence on stuffing a big engine into a mid-size body, this GTO represents the very genesis of the segment it created. This example underwent a comprehensive frame-off, rotisserie restoration completed in 2016, with photos and receipts documenting much of the extensive work. The restoration was thorough and uncompromising: new floor pans, trunk pans, and rear quarter panels were installed, the frame was stripped and repainted, and all new suspension components were fitted. The brake system was completely refurbished with new brake lines, drums, pads, and a master cylinder, and a new dual exhaust system was installed. The Saginaw steering box was rebuilt, a new gas tank was installed, and the Safe-T-Track (Posi) 3.23 rear end was fully restored. Inside, new heat and sound barrier was applied beneath fresh carpeting, the black vinyl seats were rebuilt with new foam and covers, a new headliner was installed, and the Hurst shifter was restored with a center console added. All original chrome and stainless moldings were polished and reinstalled, and the body was finished with 2-stage paint throughout the process - all while retaining the original, unrestored trim for authenticity. Under the hood, a rebuilt 1969 GTO 400 is topped with a period-correct 1965 Tri-Power induction system, delivering the multi-carb rush that defined GTO performance in the mid-1960s. Power is routed through the original M20 wide-ratio 4-speed manual transmission with the restored Hurst shifter, backed by the restored 10-bolt Safe-T-Track (Posi) 3.23 rear end. The car retains the rebuilt factory Saginaw manual steering and factory 4-wheel drum brakes that were redone, and has been thoughtfully upgraded with a rear sway bar for improved handling. Inside, the correct redone black vinyl interior is complemented by a Sun Super Tach II column-mounted tachometer, and modern conveniences have been tastefully integrated with Bluetooth audio and a hidden modern sound system, keeping the classic dash and console appearance intact while adding everyday usability. Rolling stock consists of correct 14-inch painted steel wheels for an authentic, period-correct stance. Complete with Pontiac Historic Services documentation confirming its authenticity, plus photos and receipts from its meticulous restoration, this 1964 GTO offers collectors and enthusiasts a rare combination of documented provenance, correct original details, and thoughtfully upgraded performance and drivability.
