The Original Muscle Car

It's hard to imagine that the Pontiac GTO might never have made it into production. Had it not been for a small group of managers at Pontiac who were also car enthusiasts and visionaries, the GTO might not have been.

The Best Muscle Cars Ever Made

Classic Car Overview

The Pontiac GTO is considered by many the first true muscle car. When other manufacturers were concentrating on their full size lines Pontiac saw the potential for dropping a big block engine into an intermediate frame and marketing it at a budget price. 1964 was the year that started it all when Pontiac put a GTO package together as an option on their LeMans and Tempest models. This particular example was frame off restored in 1999 and has been driven less than 2,000 miles since. It is a PHS certified car and came very nicely equipped with a nice list of options which include the 4 speed synchro mesh transmission (M20), a push button radio, a HD air cleaner, a tachometer, a glove box lamp, a deluxe steering wheel, a posi Safe-T-Track rear axle with 3:23 gears and the GTO package which consists of the 4 barrel 389 ci V8, dual exhaust and exterior badges. The laser straight body was stripped to bare metal and then painted in its original color of Cameo Ivory with a base coat clear coat provided by Sikkens that looks stunning with its 15” Torque Thrust D rims wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial TA’s. The 400 ci block was professionally rebuilt by Ron’s Machine Shop who did the heads as well. It is now fitted with an Edelbrock intake, a Weber 4 barrel carb and is sparked by a Petronix Flame Thrower ignition. It retains its original exhaust manifolds and sounds awesome ripping through its dual chambered exhaust. During the restoration the M20 transmission and rear end (which now has 3:42 gears) were completely rebuilt as well. The Medium Red interior is in stunning condition and 100% correct with the exception of the aftermarket voltage, oil pressure and water temperature gauges. The restoration on this car was extremely high quality as it was done 20 years ago but looks like it was done 2 years ago. If you looking to enjoy a real GTO you will be hard pressed to find one in this condition for the price we are asking. If you could see this beauty sitting in your garage you better get a hold of us before someone else does!
