The driver no longer has to push the button for first, then second, then drive. All you have to do is push the drive and the transmission will shift itself. And theres more; cruising along and you need more power? Just floor the gas pedal and the transmission will downshift and the secondary carburetor will kick in; still need more power; leave your foot on the gas petal; and the third carburetor will kick in. Thats really moving. Now with a stock push-button transmission. No longer do you have to push the selector buttons (first, second, then drive) to move the car. All that is needed is to start the vehicle in neutral; then push in either reverse or drive, If you were to push in the selector drive the transmission would automatically shift from first then to second and then finally up to drive.
