Per the records of Maserati Classiche, chassis number 2802 was completed in July 1963, fitted with Borrani disc wheels, and finished in Rosso Rubino Chiaro paint over an interior upholstered with Neutral leather by Connolly. As one of the later production examples, this 3500 GTi was equipped with fuel injection, disc brakes, and the long-legged five-speed ZF gearbox, features that greatly enhance the models drivability.
This car was delivered new to an owner in Italy in February 1964. After passing through a collection in Belgium, the Maserati came into German ownership by the late 2000s, having been repainted in the elegant colour of dark blue metallic. In the early 2010s an owner based in Cologne retained the restoration specialists Linnartz & Peschl to overhaul a number of systems, which eventually evolved into a technical rebuild. Sold in 2013 to the current owner, an enthusiast based in Munich, the GTi retains Neutral leather seat upholstery that may very well be original.
Among other trophies, the Maserati was awarded the Best of Classic at the 2015 Fuerstenfeld Concours dElegance, Best in Class Italian at the 2018 Concours Retro Classics Bavaria, and both 1st overall and Best Design at the Motorworld Munich Concorso Sportivo in July 2025. The 3500 GTi evidences stampings matching the Maserati Classiche records, suggesting the car retains its original engine and Touring coachwork. Elegantly finished, and retaining a great deal of its original character, this modestly driven 3500 GTi would make an outstanding addition to any sporting collection.
