Classic Car Overview

Date of interview May 22d 2025
Jim Cable of Elk Park North Carolina bought the car in summer of 1984 the man had 2 of them and it had been in his basement for 18 years. Jim picked the one he wanted and at time of purchase the car had 32,000 miles. Jim drove it until 1990 when it just turned 50,000 miles. In 1990 Jim wanted to re-chrome the bumper's and replace bumper guards.
He got "talked into" Jims words taking the car apart for a restoration "that I didn't even want" and the car stayed disassembled for 23 years
Jim's had a friend Sam Winters of Newland North Carolina who retired from Ford Motor Company. Sam knew the car and wanted to put it back together as a #1 car. Jim sold it to his friend Sam Winters in 2000. Shortly after the purchase Sam got sick without ever moving the car to his garage. In his will he left it back to his friend Jim so without the car ever moving it was back in Jim's possession as of 2004.
The car stayed disassembled in Jim's garage (background in pictures) until Jim gave the car to his nephew by marriage Lewis Grindstaff of Minneapolis North Carolina.
Lewis retired from Mountain Electric in 2006, was given the car in 2013 and spent the next 10 years carefully reassembling the car. Lewis has driven the car on weekends for the last
2 years and now because of health issues needs to sell it.
