Classic Car Overview

1964 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible For consignment, a 1964 Chevrolet Corvette convertible with a title verified 58,938 actual miles. This car has a numbers matching engine and more than $30,000 worth of improvements and work over the past four years, including a rebuild of the original engine which according to our consignor, yielded 40 extra horsepower. Exterior This multi awarding winning car begins with a two stage Daytona Blue Metallic, now ceramic coated, complemented by the white canvas top when up, and the open air when down. This dramatic spec is also augmented by the white wall tires and robust, ribbed rocker panel trim, 15-inch knock off wheels, and the epic fender gills while a gentle crease runs the center of the decklid and onto the cowl cover for the soft top then down on the decklid. Brightwork, emblems and the chrome bumpers are in great shape and the exhaust tips exit through the rear valance is where engineering meets creativity. Imperfections include various scratching and crazing, particularly on the door. Interior Swing open the doors to reveal a vertical pattern in white vinyl split by a chrome trim piece, then a smooth bottom panel. All the white blends with the chrome window cranks, sliding knob for a door actuator, and two jet age reflectors and both doors present well. White vinyl low back buckets are flanking a center armrest which sits behind a chrome edged center console. This houses the shifter with chrome ball knob, favoring the driver of course, and based in grain textured black plastic. In front of it, a side mounted AM/FM satellite capable radio, (the original comes with the car), various knobs and pulls and a large black faced clock. In front of the driver and passenger are two graceful cowls, one over the glovebox, and the other for the gauge cluster. Both have textured black plastic background which is clean, with the glovebox having a brushed aluminum door. The newer steering wheel is teak and the original comes with the car, this one retaining the crossed flag center badge. Black carpet in the foot wells also is clean and protected by Corvette Sting Ray branded mats. Drivetrain A spectacularly clean engine awaits under the hood, and its the numbers matching rebuilt 327ci L75 V8, now rated at 340 horsepower according to our consignor and fueled by a 4-barrel carburetor. Its backed by a numbers matching Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission that routes power to 3.36 gears in the rear axle. The bay has a new radiator, exhaust gaskets, water pump, fuel pump and wiring harness. Undercarriage Clean underneath with the only diversion being some oil drift. Newer brakes are onboard and they are power drums at all four wheels where the tires have a mid 2019 date code. The Gardner dual exhaust system runs through their stock style mufflers stenciled with Off Road Assy as original, and exiting as noted through the valance. Suspension consists of coil springs up front and the rear has a frame anchored three link system with transverse strut rods and leaf spring. Drive-Ability With high hopes that the car runs as well as it looks, we carefully plant ourselves on the white vinyl and bask in the sound of the dual exhaust when we turn the key. We could sit here all day, but we have a job to do. No need to sugar coat this white topped Vette, it does everything well, from acceleration to braking and everything in between. We have no complaints and cant wait to see the new owners reaction when s/he takes delivery. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. The receipts of all the work that went into creating this well sorted 64 will come to you when you pick the car up. This is a fantastic example of Americas sports car, one which Chevrolet touted heavily in 64 with more ads and promotions than had previously been deployed. Just over 22,000 Corvettes were produced in 1964 and only 15% of them were Daytona Blue. How many are left? Lets start the count with the one coming to your garage. 40867S115643 4-1964 08-Corvette 67-Convertible S-St. Louis, MO Assy Plant 115643-Sequential Unit Number TRIM TAG H14-April 14th STYLE 64 867-1964 Corvette BODY S8639-St. Louis Body # TRIM 491GE-White & Black PAINT 916AA-Daytona Blue Metallic Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in a climate controlled 336,000-square foot showroom (thats more than 8 acres!).
