In just a few short years, Walter P. Chrysler took his company from an unknown automotive manufacturer to fourth in the industry. Walter Chrysler was a perfectionist with a deep mechanical background. This aspect, probably more than anything, helped to make Chrysler Corporation grow quickly.
Classic Car Overview
This is an original Super Wildcat car, one of 2122 built in 1964. Super Wildcats were the top tier of Buick performance, with the 425 cu. in. engine, dual 4-barrel carbs and finned aluminum rocker covers. If you wanted the pinnacle of style, power, and luxury in 1964, this was it. The Super Wildcat engine is hooked to the original Super Turbine 400 3-speed automatic transmission and breathes through dual exhaust.
Odometer shows 65k miles, believed to be original based on condition and known history of the car. It was last driven in about 2005 and has been stored in the owners’ garage ever since. The car had no known mechanical issues when parked. It is rust-free and has spent its entire life in the dry southwest.
The personal luxury features include bucket seats for all 4 passengers and center console with floor shifter. Also has AC (currently not working), power steering, power brakes, power windows, tilt wheel, 4 way power driver seat, wood trimmed dash/console, cruise control, speed minder alert, and remote driver’s side mirror.
Seats are in excellent condition, carpets and door panels show a little age. The interior chrome, metal trim and dashboard instrument cluster are all excellent. However, the original radio is missing.
Except for needing some attention around the rear window, the paint and body are in very good condition, with the age-expected chips and dings. We believe it may have been repainted sometime around the early 1990s.
This original Riviera is already a standout and just needs a little more attention to be truly amazing. There's nothing quite like the feeling of all that torque pushing you back in the seat when you romp on the gas pedal. Sitting in the driver's seat, surrounded by space-age luxury, with that long hood out in front of you , really feels special.
