Classic Car Overview

This rare roadster is said to be one of only 5 in the USA. The Sabra sports car was born when Autocars Co., an Israeli firm, decided to build a sports car for debuted at the New York Auto Show in 1961. They mated an Ashley fiberglass body with a Leslie Ballamy chassis; power was provided by a Ford 1703 cc four cylinder engine and transferred through a 4 speed manual transmission. Top speed was an impressive 100 mph. It features an independent front suspension with disc brakes. A total of only 203 were produced from 1961 - 67. The name Sabra was chosen because of its Hebrew meaning ;born in Israel; and ;cactus; (the cars logo). It was avaliable in either a coupe or convertible and carried a price tag of $3500; that was $500 above an Austin Healy! This fine example is part of a multi-million dollar private collection and is being offered for sale for the first time. It has been stored in a climate controlled private museum for the viewing pleasure of the owner and his guests. It has the optional chrome bumperettes and luggage rack. Its condition is a combination of restored and original. The chrome glistens, complimenting its high gloss red repaint. Top and upholstery reflect the cars age showing minor wear. The dash and gauges are original and in impeccable condition. While the car does run and drive, it has not been registered for many years.
