Classic Car Overview
This 1963 Land Rover 109 Series IIA pickup was subjected to a multi-year refurbishment and was converted to left-hand drive under previous ownership. Finished in Tartan Blue over gray vinyl, the truck is powered by a 2.5-liter 200TDi turbodiesel inline-four linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes power steering, manually locking front hubs, a suspension lift kit, drum brakes, 16? steel wheels, a Warn winch, galvanized bumpers, a receiver hitch, bucket seats, a cabin heater, and sliding windows.
The truck left the factory in a right-hand-drive configuration and was converted to left-hand-drive during the refurbishment. It is finished in an International Harvester shade of Tartan Blue with a Limestone roof and tan canvas bed canopy. Exterior details include a Warn winch, dual fender-mounted side mirrors, cowl vents, a fold-down windshield, a sliding rear window, a wood bed floor, a drop-down tailgate, a receiver hitch, galvanized rockers and bumpers, and rear mud flaps. Limestone-finished 16? slotted steel wheels are mounted with Michelin 4X4-O/R tires manufactured in 2013. The hood-mounted spare is joined by an additional spare housed in the cargo area. The truck features power steering sourced from a Toyota FJ60 as well as manually locking front hubs and a suspension lift kit that combines Rovers North parabolic springs with Old Man Emu Nitrocharger shocks. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums. The power steering gearbox was replaced in 2025.
The Exmoor bucket seats are upholstered in gray vinyl. Appointments include a Kodiak cabin heater, a Tuffy locking center console, an axe, sliding windows, and all-weather floor mats. The banjo-style steering wheel is mounted on a Borgeson collapsible safety steering column and fronts a body-color dashboard with Jaeger instrumentation consisting of a 75-mph speedometer and a combination gauge for amperage and fuel level. A military-style 24-hour clock reportedly sourced from a Russian Tupolev bomber is also fitted.
The 2.5-liter 200TDi turbodiesel inline-four was retrofitted during the refurbishment and features a K&N air cleaner, a Moroso coolant overflow reservoir, and a stainless steel exhaust system. The replacement Richards S3 galvanized frame is shown above. Power is routed to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and Salisbury 24-spline axles. The front differential pinion seal was replaced in 2022.
