Cool Movie Cars in New "Stars and Cars" Book

Need a little help deciding on your next classic car purchase? Check out this book about old movie cars for some inspiration. Inside, there are short, digestible stories about famous cars and the stars who drove them to fame.

Windy City Warriors

From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.

Classic Car Overview

Two owner Falcon Sprint convertible born in MI but raised in CA so rust and corrosion are at a min. Ford introduced the Sprint half way through 1963 and it was a hit with the performance of a V8 in a lightweight, nimble car.  This Falcon is in the right condition, has the right drive train and was ordered with the right factory options. These include:

260 V8 2 barrel carb

4 speed manual transmission

power steering

power top

Sprint decals, emblems and chrome trim pieces

bucket seats

center console and padded dash

dual exhaust

Sport steering wheel-simulated wood

The classic color combination of black on red makes it stand out at  shows and on the street. The paint is a 7 out of 10 with minor blemishes and chips. Hood has just been shot both on top and underneath to correct a chip on top and years of gunk underneath. Engine bay shows well with all the Sprint chrome pieces including air cleaner, valve covers, and power steering pump cover, as well as Sprint decals.

Interior is a 7 out of 10 needing door panels but carpet is new, seats are in good condition(no rips or wear spots) and dash has no cracks. Dumb after market stereo installed in the 90s but at least it was installed under the dash and factory AM radio is still in place (not working). Kick panels are cut out for speakers so new ones have been purchased. Tachometer on top of the dash is not factory but is in the right spot for a factory replacement Falcon Sprint Tach available on line for $339.

This Falcon drives nice, has surprisingly good power, idles smoothly, does not smoke, shifts smoothly(shift linkage needs attention), and starts every time with one o two  pumps on the accelerator. Convertible top is free of any wear or tear and the power mechanism works perfect. The rear window is plastic and is in fine condition. The tires are brand spanking new whitewalls (I purchased them in May) and a second set of new black wall tires come with the car. I fixed a number of issues in the last 30 days including a new battery box, new horns, exterior lights, oil change, tune up, new window crank handles, new door handles, new outside rear view mirror,  new brake cable, and gas shocks all the way around. All windows roll up, gauges work except tach, lights work inside and out, and horns work. Rust is strictly surface and I purposely did not clean or paint underneath the car to show the true condition. It is a California car and it shows.

Overall this is a extremely nice driver or excellent candidate for a frame off restoration in that everything is in place. Come drive it and see for yourself that I have told it like it is!! I have the original owner's manual with the first buyer/owner and the service dates stamped inside by the selling dealership!! Also, I have an original sales brochure showing the Sprint in the exact black on red color combo from 1963. New Falcon antenna, car cover, extra tires, and a few small parts are included in the sale. This Falcon Sprint is worth every dollar and should sell fast. If you would like to come see it, consider flying into Burbank Airport and I will pick you up in it and we will cruise Sunset Blvd to the beach for a test drive. Until then this Sprint ois under cover in a warehouse ready to show.
