Classic Car Overview

To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys Paris event, 28 January 2026.
Offered Without Reserve 60,000 - 90,000 EUR

  • An exceptionally attractive, first-year Corvette Sting Ray
  • Finished in its stellar factory livery of Tuxedo Black over red vinyl trim
  • Equipped with a correct-type 327-cu-in V-8 engine and Muncie four-speed gearbox
  • Comprehensive rebuild of its engine and gearbox completed in 2020 by Heavy Dutys of Rsselsheim, Germany
  • Accompanied by service invoices and 2025 German TV certification; also presented with a colour-matching hardtop

This early production Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is an especially attractive example of the first-year C2 Sting Ray, finished in its factory-correct livery of Tuxedo Black over red vinyl trim and desirably equipped with a dash-integrated clock and AM radio. Power derives from a correct-type 327-cu-in V-8 replacement engine, which was treated to an extensive upgrade and rebuild in 2020 by Heavy Dutys of Rsselsheim, Germany.

Invoices on file document a complete engine disassembly with machining and precision balancing, followed by reassembly using Brodix IK180 cylinder heads, forged pistons with moly rings, a high-performance camshaft with upgraded lifters, plus a rebuilt water pump and improved ignition system. The correct-type Muncie four-speed transmission was similarly rebuilt with new bearings, synchro rings, gears, shafts, and seals, along with the fitment of a new clutch and flywheel. Further work included suspension tuning, refinishing of the engine bay and select frame sections, and the installation of a new exhaust system.

This fine early Sting Ray, tastefully presented and well prepared with a colour-matching hardtop, offers an excellent opportunity to acquire a standout example of the C2 Corvette.
