Driven by Brian Redman. An amazing Recreation of the Porsche 804 F1 Open Wheel Race Car, which only 4 true ones were built by Porsche. This reproduction Porsche 804 Tribute Open Wheel was built by the Wilson Collection in Jupiter Florida. This is a faithful representation of the Porsche landmark entry in Formula 1 racing. The Wilson Collection opted to call the updated, full race version a 1963, as it maintains that if Porsche had continued in Formula 1, it would have transitioned from a Flat-8 to a Flat-6 engine. This car features a Flat-6 built by the 901 Shop in Stuart, Florida, and is backed by a Hewland 5-speed transmission. It has disc brakes all around, and the suspension was engineered to use Porsche 911 torsion bars, just like the original 804. Handling prowess comes in the form of Penske shocks to dampen the suspension.

Quick recap of the history of Original Open Wheel car built in 1962 by Porsche: The 804 was designed by Ferdinand Alexander Butzi Porsche, also known as F.A. Porsche. He is the son of Ferdinand Anton Ernst Ferry Porsche, and grandson of the companys eponymous founder Ferdinand Porsche. F.A. Porsche was assigned the project by the companys long-time chief body engineer Erwin Komenda. The design was done for Wilhelm Hild, an engineer with the racing department, and Hubert Mimler, another engineer who worked on a variety of projects at the company and who was assigned to the racing department at the time. The two engineers worked with FA Porsche on the car. Acting as Racing director at Porsche was Fritz Huschke von Hanstein. A total of four cars were built. The fourth chassis was never raced. The 804 gave Porsche its only F1 wins as a constructor, at the French Grand Prix at Rouen-Les-Essarts on July 8, and at the (non-WC) Castle Solitude in Stuttgart, both with Gurney as driver.
