Classic Car Overview

I’ve had the car for about 30 years. Purchased with the original 283 with a 2 barrel carb and a power-glide. It was driven occasionally the first 5 years of ownership and mostly garaged after that. The current engine and trans was swapped in 2001 along with the brake upgrade and front suspension rebuild - then came a wife, a house, kids... I’ve put hardly any miles on it since the swap. I figure it’s time to let it go. 

First gen US GM factory-built 350 4 bolt lower end SBC with about 30k mi before the swap into the Impala. 90s vintage GM Vortex heads (factory new when installed), stainless shims as head gaskets, Edelbrock Performance Plus Cam. Dual roller timing chain. New (2018) Holley 650 w/ vac secondaries and electric choke. ‘62 corvette rams horn exhaust manifolds. New (2017) Mallory Dual Point distributor. One-wire self regulating alternator and Optima “Red Top” gel battery (added in 2014).  

Starts easy. Has a slight off-idle stumble, and can load up a bit when running at low RPMs on the freeway.  Could probably use some adjustments in jetting and throttle timing.

700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive trans with GM kick-down cable & vacuum switch. Custom built one piece drive shaft, original high-way geared rear end. 

Factory air (complete but needs a recharge and probably needs the seals replaced), factory power steering (with some parts collected for a steering ram upgrade).

Front manual disk brakes w/ dual master cylinder and proportioning valve (new parts, not salvaged). 2” dropped spindles, with all front suspension bushings etc replaced. 80s vintage Weld Wheels 15” 5 spoke mags.

Original factory paint, no dents, some mild chips, and a couple dimples in the aluminum trim, no serious oxidation, but some patina. 

Original factory interior. Blue 2-tone with star pattern headliner, some rips in the drivers seat, some of the stitching in the vinyl panels is coming undone, and couple tears in the vinyl panels on the top corners of the front bench seat. Door panels and quarter panels are intact and complete but show their age, package tray needs replacing. Factory transistor radio and dash speaker still works. VDO tach (small face) and Stewart Warner 3 gauge cluster.

There are elements of a late 80s vintage monster stereo system hidden behind the upholstery. 4 woofers behind the rear seat, midrange and tweeters hidden behind the front kick panels. Two 75w+75w bridgable amps in the trunk, and a stereo/tape deck and cross-over in the glove box. When last fired up (2014) the rear speakers were out of phase. I removed the fuse block for the system when swapping the battery and never reconnected the wires.
