From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.
The no-frills Savoy two-door sedan was home to another engine of considerable repute, the infamous 413 Max Wedge, a Super Stock monster block Chrysler introduced in the spring of 1962.
Classic Car Overview
Its time to get your hands on an American icon for an unbeatable price. This 1962 Cadillac Sedan De Ville is a classic cruiser thats complete right down to its original color and the correct 390 V8. But theres also the right subtle upgrades like air conditioning and a gorgeous trunk. So you know its cool factor is the only thing that outweighs this long, low classic sedan. Whether they see you coming or watch you going, there no mistaking the big bold chrome grille, or the outstanding tailfins of a classic Caddy. It looks like a rock star from any angle, and its so iconic that nobody will ever ask, Hey, whats that? This example appears to be a largely original car thats had been resprayed in its correct Sandalwood. That means it retains a nice shine, and helps keep this hardtop sedan a paragon of good taste and impeccable tailoring. In fact, the crisp sheetmetal made these Cadillacs the style kings in the 60s. And when they look as good as this one today, the reputation only grows. Of course, its really the brightwork that makes you love a car like this. So its great to see it complete on everything, including the big bold grille, factory wheel covers, and the hallmark end caps that would continue to define Cadillac styling for decades to come. And the way the full-length trim starts behind the front fender, runs like an unbroken line through the doors and rear skirts, and then it highlights the lower tailfin thats pure rolling sculpture. The tan leather interior nicely complements the exterior color, and this full presentation is thought to be all original. Its not hard to believe this is true considering this Caddy has averaged only around 1,100 miles annually - which leaves little time to wear out anything. As a true Cadillac, this comes with plenty of features, including a power front seat, power locks, and fold-down arm rests in both rows for an individual level of comfort. Cadillacs classic skinny dual spoke steering wheel gives you a terrific view of everything from the ultra-wide speedometer, to the AM radio thats still on display. And while all of this looks fantastically original, the trunk has been upgraded with terrific glossy wood and Cadillac graphics (youll swear its like a mini classic showroom in there.) But we bet your favorite part will be the power windows. They mean you dont even have to leave the drivers seat any time you want to cruise around showing off this cool pillarless hardtop profile. And because the air conditioning system is blowing nice and cold, you can do this long into the summer season. Cadillacs 390 cubic-inch V8 fills this engine bay properly with big power. This is an era-correct motor, and the consignor states its original. In fact, the four-barrel carburetor and Hydramatic transmission are both correct for the car and stated to be original exactly what you want on a low mileage and distinct classic. So its great to see this package so well presented with the blue block and valve covers hiding under the tidy black belts, hoses, and air grabber. And because you can tell this is a correctly maintained classic, youll also be happy to know the V8 fires up nicely and runs like a smooth Caddy should. Plus, with power steering, power brakes, and the unmistakable supple ride, this classic still provides the proper luxury experience. A tailfin classic Cadillac never goes out of style. So when it has been so nicely presented with all the right cruising upgrades, you know you have to act fast at this price. Call today!!!
