Classic Car Overview

The original muscle car! Boy, do we have a rare and desirable gem being offered today! Pontiac Historical documented that this car was born exactly like you see it. #s matching original motor. There were 10 versions of the 389 offered and the 348 hp was the headliner (over 1/4 million 389s made in 61, only 1,352 of these were made). Body off frame restoration to concourse condition. This is quoted from a Hemmings article: Its considered one of the most beautiful automobiles of the post-war era. Its proportions are nearly perfect, its grill design is absolutely captivating and the treatment of the hardtop shape with its thin c-pillar is utterly gorgeous. No wonder they are starting to become one of the most sought after American collector cars of the 1960s. A Motortrend article made this reference to the 1961 Ventura- creating what many in the Pontiac faithful believe is one of the most beautiful designs ever to roll off the assembly line. Street Muscle Magazine did an article named Muscle Cars You Should Know...1961 Pontiac Ventura Bubbletop They are quoted as saying: We tend to think of the 1964 GTO as the model that would usher in the muscle car era, but the reality is that Pontiac was putting that potent 389 V8 into lightened intermediate body coupes and backing it with a four-speed years before the goat ever landed in Pontiac showrooms. The 1961 Ventura bubble top is something of a proto-muscle car containing all of the ingredients that would define the segment. EXTERIOR: The beloved bubble top was only a one year design for Pontiac. The Ventura is 7 inches shorter than the Bonneville. This body is pristine, laser straight. There is no rust, body work or damage. The gaps are precise, doors shut like new. Repainted its original colors. The paint is polished like white glass, better than factory. New front and rear windows. Show quality chrome and trim. It came with 8 new lug wheels and they are wearing a set of Coker Classic radial wide white walls. All the weatherstrips and seals were replaced. INTERIOR: Carpet to headliner it looks new. Pristine tri-color upholstery and door panels. Professionally restored dash pad by Just Dashes. The metal is repainted smooth and glossy. All chrome sparkles. The steering wheel looks brand new. It has quartz movement in the clock, interior lights work. The visors are the only items not new. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: This is the top dog 389-348 hp motor with factory tri-power. Original motor to this car, the unit number matches the PHS docs. The engine was completely rebuilt, we have the receipt. It runs strong, sounds like a muscle car. All the original components- air cleaner, manifolds, valve covers, vacuum can etc. It features power steering and brakes. Every component is restored. Everything looks proper and tidy. The metal surfaces are all painted smooth. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It has pristine metal and its all painted gloss white. It also has the red-gray liner kit and cover over the spare. UNDERSIDE: The body was removed from the frame. The chassis was sand blasted bare, prepped and painted. The suspension and steering was completely rebuilt. The brake system was restored, the lines, e-brake cables and hoses were replaced. The 8 lugs wheels are unique to Pontiac and were part of a superior brake system. It has the factory correct dual exhaust system. Looking up at the motor its clean Pontiac blue, the starter looks fresh. It has a Muncie 4-speed transmission thats looks fresh with a Hurst linkage. Custom driveshaft. It has its original safety track rear end. The floors, braces, rockers are pristine smooth metal painted semi-gloss black. SERVICE: We inspected the car and replaced the reverse lights, adjusted horn switch, gave it a front end alignment, replaced an axle seal, adjusted all 4 brakes and replaced the right front wheel bearing. CONCLUSION: This is worthy of any collection. Its a significant part of muscle car history. The fit, finishes and function is very impressive. #s matching and documented, this is an investment you can enjoy! I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the cars condition in detail. These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded and you will be given a 1 year membership. 815 385 3644 9-5 central Sales@volocars.com Answered ASAP Tri-power 348 hp Power steering Power brakes 8 lugs wheels Radial whitewalls Saf-t-trac rear Reproduction mats Seatbelts
