This 1961 MGA is a beautifully sorted example that blends classic British roadster charm with thoughtful mechanical upgrades for enhanced drivability and performance.

Under the bonnet, the original 1600cc engine has been replaced with a highly desirable 5-main bearing 1800cc MGB engine, fitted with a big valve head and a performance camshaft. With under 5,000 miles since build, the motor delivers brisk, linear power and excellent tractability. Starting is easy and reliable thanks to proper tuning by an experienced British Leyland mechanic who owned the car for several decades.

Power is sent through a fully synchronized gearbox with straight cut gears and overdrive in 3rd and 4th. The clutch operates smoothly, and the engine bay is clean and tidy, featuring numerous thoughtful upgrades:

Enhanced heat-shielding for the carburetor float bowls
Custom radiator fan shroud
K&N air filters
Spin-on oil filter with remote oil cooler
The chassis is solid and free of rust, having lived its life in California with no signs of accident history. Handling is superb, aided by a rebuilt suspension, polyurethane bushings, an anti-sway bar, and Michelin Pilot tires. A stainless steel exhaust and newer fuel tank round out the mechanical enhancements.

The paintwork presents with excellent depth and gloss, showing minor blemishes consistent with a well-kept driver (see images). Chrome componentsbumpers, grille, and trimshow some patina and wear.

Finished in iconic British Racing Green over a new black leather interior, the cabin is clean and free of rips, tears, or excessive wear. It includes a soft top, spare tire, and full tool kit, though it does not have a tonneau cover or side curtains.
