Classic Car Overview
My uncle bought this car new in 1961 and extensively rebuilt it in the 1990s. I acquired it in the fall of 2021 when he stopped driving when it had around 92,000 miles.
I had the lower quarter panels repainted in 2022 and replaced the steering rod in 2023. Prior to that my uncle replaced the spark plugs, flywheel, clutch, push rod tubes and valve cover gaskets as it was leaking oil in March 2017 at 88,703 miles. In Oct 2018 he replaced the fuel pump. In May 2019 he replaced the the front wheel shoes and cylinders, repacked the front wheel bearings and bled the brakes. In Jan 2020 he replaced a broken left rear U joint and both rear wheel cylinders. In April 2021 he replace the shift shaft seal and in May 2021 he replaced the oil sender switch. Prior to selling me the car he had bought 4 new tires.
The interior was redone with the rebuilt in the 1990s, but the rear seat is completely original. It runs well but does still leak a little oil which I hear is common for Covairs. It does have a few minor imperfections, but presents quite well.
