1961 Alfa Romeo Giulietta

The Giulietta Spider was introduced in mid-1955 and was styled by famed Italian design firm Pininfarina. Only the Italians can pen a shape so sporty and seductive! Production of the Spider continued with the longer-wheelbase Tipo 101 in 1959 up to 1962 when it was replaced by the Guilia model.

This 1961 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider normale is said to have remained under single family ownership from new until the current owners acquisition out of a storage unit in the late 2010s. The car appears to have been originally grey but was repainted in red at some point probably in 1970s or 80s judging by the finish. The car has its correct 1300cc DOHC 4-cylinder and single Solex carburetor, mated to a five-speed manual transmission that was installed at some point. The 15 steel wheels have been refinished and new 165-series Michelin XZX tires were fitted in 2024. The brakes are finned aluminum drums all round. Mechanical work was performed by Group 2 Motorsports of Woodinville in 2024 and included: servicing the brakes, fitting new brake hoses, repairing the radiator, resealing the oil sump, rebuilding the carburetor, cleaning the fuel tank, fitting a new electric fuel pump, replacing the wheel bearings, fitting new rear axle limit straps, changing the oil, gearbox, diff fluids, and performing a valve adjustment.

Overall the car is nice driver level condition, its runs and drives well, stats easily and idles smooth. The transmission shifts up/down in all gears easily with no crunching. Brakes feel strong and the clutch grabs nicely with no chatter or slippage. This Spider can be used as-is if you dont mind its age patina, bumps and bruises or can be a great candidate for further cosmetic restoration. You wont be winning any display shows with this one but the car has the honest cool factor because you can take it out, drive the snot out of it, park it on the streets, and not worry about things too much while you have a coffee or are grabbing a beverage at your favorite pub. This Spider would be right at home during Car Week at a camp site or sitting at the beach. The interior shows age and wear in places but is still usable overall. The red vinyl seats are in decent shape as are the carpeted areas of the floors. The door panels were recovered by the current owner in 2025. New correct black rubber Alfa Romeo embossed floor mats were sourced in Europe and look great under your feet. The original Nardi wood steering wheel is showing its age but we think its vintage patina is just plain cool and would be fitting while wearing a pair of leather/cotton waffle pattern driving gloves. This car is also fitted with a very rare removable hard top painted in gloss black, the headliner needs replacing but is still usable as-is. There is no soft top.
