Dealer Disclosure
This Vehicle is sold strictly on a final and AS-IS basis without any warranties expressed or implied. Even the very best restored classics will require additional maintenance and service - often without warning. Therefore, please expect to continue - as the new owner and caretaker of this classic - to perform additional maintenance and repairs. We hope that you are able to enjoy the Triumph without the need for an immediate repair - but understand that this indeed could be found necessary. As seasoned collectors know, every time you start (or attempt to start) a collectible vehicle is a new experience...it could be a wonderful ride, or a new repair to undertake. That is the nature of the hobby, and this classic should not be purchased if you are not prepared for this reality. We have presented the car accurately to the best of our ability, but oversights are possible so we invite pre-purchase examination for serious buyers. All sales are final. Due to age (and the fact that it has only been driven locally in recent years) - it is recommended that it be transported to its new owner's locale.

Classic Car Overview

1960 TRIUMPH TR3

Inline 4-Cylinder (121.5 cid)

4-Speed Manual Transmission

1-OWNER FOR 26 YEARS, SINCE 1998

GENERAL BACKGROUND

The Triumph TR3 was introduced in 1955 and was so successful that the original panel tooling wore out from so much production and had to be replaced for the model to complete its run in 1962. It was the very first production British car to employ (front) disc brakes in 1956. The cars fundamentals are so good that it is still seen competing in the Sports Car of America (SCCA) E-production class. Its classic British good looks are timeless, and it is beloved in enthusiast circles worldwide.

THIS CARS UNIQUE HISTORY

The owner of this car was a very discerning collector of eclectic taste. Among the dozens of classics he owned over the years including Ferrari, Rolls Royce, and a Porsche 911 Turbo was this beautiful 1960 Triumph TR3. In 1998 he bought the car and it instantly became one of his favorites. It has extensive maintenance/restoration documentation, which is included with the car. It recently received a tune-up and became a crowd favorite during its time at the shop.

OPERATIONALS

As the videos illustrate, the car runs well and is uniquely fun to drive. It starts readily and drives nicely (be sure to see the three YouTube videos via links below). We tested the following during the photoshoot and all were operational at the time: Headlamps, Running Lights, Directionals, Horn, Gauges (though we cannot verify how accurately they are calibrated), and Wipers. The cowl vent control worked, but was a bit sticky and the Heater control did not appear to be connected to anything. Though the rear running lights/directionals worked, the brake light function did not.

IMPERFECTIONS

Please expect imperfections such as those shown in the pictures. I would characterize it as a very nice Show & Drive classic. To most bystanders seeing it on the road, it looks almost like new. But a concours judge (accustomed to seeing over-restored cars that are indeed better than new) will undoubtedly find some paint scratches/imperfections here and there and some brightwork blemishes as well. But that said, I have seen many much newer classics that do not present themselves as well as this Triumph.

PURCHASE DETAILS: This car is now owned by the Estate of a close friend. Wire Transfer to the Bank Account of the Estate is the ONLY approved payment method. NO Checks and NO cash. A Bill of Sale will be signed by the buyer and then emailed to the Estate Executor in New York where it will be signed by the Executor and witnessed by a Notary. The fully executed Bill of Sale will be emailed back and then presented to the buyer with the Executor signed-off Registration/Ownership Slip/Document and Letters Testamentary.

NOTE: Because the state of Georgia did not begin issuing auto titles until 1962, all previous model year vehicles are NOT required to be titled...including (of course) this 1960 Triumph. ALL states must respect the title/registration rules of other states, therefore, the Bill of Sale and signed-off Registration document provided should allow the buyer to register and insure the 1960 Triumph in ANY state. Whether or not your state will issue a title depends totally on the title/registration rules of your state. If you have questions, please contact your local Motor Vehicle office.

LOCATION

Stone Mountain, GA (Note: the car is stored in a spacious and climate controlled high-end storage facility with a HUGE front parking lot. Any test driving will be done ONLY on the storage facility grounds NOT public roads).

INVESTMENT POTENTIAL

Could be considerable, as Triumph TR3s are among the most admired of all the classic British Sports Cars. In short, they have always been admired, and likely always will be.

ABOUT ME

After retiring from 30 years of sales and marketing in a Global 100 company, I began buying and selling classic cars as a collector. I also sometimes market classic and collectible cars for friends and clients. This classic belonged to a dear friend who passed in March, and I am listing it for his Estate.

ODOMETER

The indicated mileage is believed to be correct, but is not guaranteed or warranted to be correct due to the design limitations of mechanical odometers of this era.
