Classic Car Overview

HISTORY OF THE XK150 & XK150-S MODELS: Introduced in 1957, the Jaguar XK150 continued the evolution that began with the XK120 and XK140, incorporating numerous stylistic and functional improvements. These included a one-piece windshield, revised bonnet contours, and cleaner door lines. Fixed Head Coupe models benefited from a windscreen moved forward four inches, improving ingress and egress dramatically. Inside, the wood dash of earlier models was replaced with a leather-wrapped fascia, and slimmer door panels expanded cabin space. The model launched with the 3.4-liter XK engine producing 190 horsepower, with performance-oriented S variants soon following. The S-spec 3.4 employed triple SU carburetors, square-port heads, and higher-duration camshafts to produce 250 horsepower. The ultimate specification-arriving mid-1960-was the 3.8-liter XK150-S, featuring the same VAS-prefixed engine that would soon power the Jaguar E-type. Rated at 265 horsepower and paired with a four-speed manual transmission with optional overdrive, this final evolution remains the most powerful and perhaps most desirable iteration of the entire XK lineage. A true embodiment of Sir William Lyons philosophy of Grace, Space and Pace, the XK150-S continues to be cherished by collectors and long-distance rally enthusiasts alike. THE MOTORCAR OFFERED: According to its accompanying British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, this 1960 Jaguar XK150-S 3.8 Fixed Head Coupe was completed on July 21, 1960 and dispatched the following month to Jaguar Cars, New York. Originally finished in Carmen Red with a Black interior, chassis T836869DN now wears a timeless livery of British Racing Green over Biscuit leather. While its earliest history is undocumented, the car was acquired by a respected local collector around the turn of the century and subsequently treated to a thoughtful series of upgrades to enhance aesthetics, performance, and comfort for long-distance rally use. Visually, the car presents in a period competition specification, featuring a louvered bonnet, twin LUCAS fog lamps, and a 16 wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel. Inside, the cabin has been fitted with bucket seats accompanied by racing-style lap belts - a common and practical upgrade for long-distance rally events. Importantly, the cars original-style split bench seat was retained and is included with the car, offering future caretakers the option to return the interior to its classic touring configuration if desired. A set of 16 60-Spoke Chrome Wire Wheels paired with VREDESTEIN 185HR16 93H Sprint Classic tires transmit the torque to the pavement. Under the hood, the numbers-matching VAS-prefixed 3.8L XK engine received a comprehensive $9,000 rebuild in 2010. Since then it has been enhanced with velocity stacks and stainless-steel headers, allowing the free-revving E-type-spec motor to breathe at its best. Drivability and comfort have also been thoughtfully improved with the installation of a TREMEC 5-speed manual gearbox and modern air-conditioning. While the legendary 3.8L tri-carb XK engine provides a symphony all its own, a PIONEER AM/FM cassette stereo is neatly tucked beneath the dash - integrated in a way that preserves the period-correct appearance of the burl walnut instrument surround. These accessories are supported by an upgraded LUCAS alternator to ensure stable power delivery. Over the past 20 years, the car has been routinely serviced by respected local specialist Fred Garcia. A comprehensive assortment of receipts measuring an inch thick accompanies the car today, dating back to just before the turn of the century and totaling more than $20,000. These documents paint a clear picture of a meticulous owner who regularly prepared the XK150-S for major vintage rally events such as the Copperstate 1000 and the Colorado Grand, followed by detailed inspections and servicing after each outing. Transport documents and event materials included with the car confirm its active rally career, with appearances in the Copperstate 1000 in 2011, 2012, and 2013, along with Colorado Grand participation in 2011, 2013, and 2015. Additional items include a full-size spare, tool roll with genuine Jaguar-branded wrenches, event photographs featuring the car, and its Jaguar-Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate. As expected from a seasoned rally veteran, the car exhibits some paint chips and touch-ups, and light interior wear consistent with regular use. The 140-mph speedometer shows 95,000 miles; the odometer is currently inoperable and total lifetime mileage is unknown. Now offered on consignment by ITS ALIVE! on behalf of the late owners family, this car represents a rare opportunity to acquire an exceptionally scarce XK150-S 3.8 Fixed Head Coupe - tastefully upgraded, mechanically proven, and with a well-documented rally rsum. We proudly present this outstanding Jaguar to the discerning collector who values the rare combination of performance, practicality, and pedigree.
