Classic Car Overview
This 1960 Ford Falcon Ranchero is powered by a 302ci V8 that was installed under prior ownership along with an AOD four-speed automatic transmission. Refurbishment work completed in 2023 is said to have involved repainting the vehicle in green over tan leather and vinyl upholstery as well as installing an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, an electric fuel pump, an electronic distributor, an aluminum radiator, a DynoMax muffler, front disc brakes, KYB shocks, LED headlamps, power-adjustable bucket seats, and custom storage boxes. The alternator, water pump, suspension bushings, wiring harness, weatherstripping, carpeting, seatbelts, headliner, and ductwork reportedly were replaced during the refurbishment. The pickup also has American Racing 16 wheels, a spray-in bedliner, and an aftermarket audio system. The pickup was repainted in green during the aforementioned refurbishment conducted under prior ownership. Features include dual side mirrors, chrome-finished front and rear bumpers, and Truck-Lite LED headlights. The chrome bumpers, the bed-finishing rails, and other bright trim have been rechromed with the exception of the external door handles. The rubber seals for the doors, windows, tailgate, and bumper stops were replaced during the refurbishment. Five-spoke American Racing Torq-Thrust M 16 wheels are mounted with 205/60 Toyo Xtensa A/S tires. The pickup is equipped with KYB shocks as well as front coil and rear leaf springs. The suspension bushings and wheel bearings were replaced under prior ownership. Front disc brakes with 11 vented and slotted rotors were adapted under prior ownership, and the vehicle also has rear drum brakes and an adjustable proportioning valve and distribution block. The cargo bed has a spray-in bedliner and a drop-down tailgate. The battery has been relocated into a custom compartment with a hinged access panel beneath the front portion of the bed floor; the compartment also houses fuses and a cutoff switch. he cabin features eight-way power-adjustable late-model bucket seats upholstered in tan leather and vinyl. A Boss Audio Systems 616UAB head unit fitted beneath the dashboard is wired to 6.5 speakers in the kick panels; an AM radio remains in the dash, although only its lights work. Interior appointments include a center console, three-point seatbelts, USB power outlets, map lights, a heater, and a glovebox. Components that were replaced during the refurbishment are said to include the headliner, sun visors, windlace, carpeting, pedal pads, defroster ducts, heater cowl panel, control knobs, scuff panels, interior door and window handles, and the turn-signal lever. A custom wood storage box has been added behind the passenger seat. The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a horizontal 100-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. Digital gauges for voltage and engine speed are found below the aftermarket radio. The five-digit odometer shows 31k miles, approximately 10 of which were added under current ownership; true mileage is unknown. The Ford small-block 302ci V8 wears valve covers reading 347 c.i. Stroker and was installed under prior ownership. During the refurbishment, an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor with electric choke was installed along with an Edelbrock intake manifold, a Carter electric fuel pump, a Griffin aluminum radiator, a Flex-a-lite electric fan, an HEI billet electronic distributor, a custom wiring harness, and fender and shock-tower braces. The alternator, water pump, thermostat housing, heater core, and hoses were replaced under prior ownership. Power is routed to the wheels through an AOD four-speed automatic transmission with an overdrive top gear and a 7.5 rear end. The U-joints and the shift cable were replaced during the refurbishment. The two-into-one exhaust system features 2.5 piping, a DynoMax muffler, and a wide-band test bung. The car has been undercoated. The serial number is consistent with a 1960 Falcon Ranchero that was built in San Jose, California, and equipped with a 144ci inline-six and a one-barrel carburetor. Decoding the trim tag pictured above reveals the following information: Body 66A Falcon Ranchero pickup Color JM1 Monte Carlo Red and Corinthian White paint Trim 55 White and red vinyl upholstery Date 20D April 20 build date Trans 3 Ford-O-Matic two-speed automatic transmission Axle 2 3.89:1 rear-axle ratio The vehicles title lists a letter O as the first character rather than the correct number zero.
