Initially released as the top-level variant of the Bel Air and coming with unique styling and bodywork, the Impala was spun off into its own model line for 1959. Available as a four-door sedan or hardtop, a two-door Sport Coupe or convertible, and a five-door station wagon, the second-generation Impala offered choices between the Blue Flame Inline-6, a 283ci 'Turbo Fire' V8, or the big-block 'Turbo Thrust' 348ci V8. Manual and automatic transmission were offered as were numerous performance and luxury options.
With its stunning new lower and wider design featuring flattened tailfins and "teardrop" taillamps, the 1959-1960 Impala was a success, with 490,000 units sold. Naturally, rarer varieties such as convertibles are more valuable, especially when configured with one of the performance-oriented motor options. It is no wonder these cars are well remembered for their ease of use and stunning late-fifties/early-sixties style.
The magnificent 1960 Chevrolet Impala 348/320hp Convertible featured here is finished in stunning Roman Red over a beautifully preserved Red and White interior with a White folding convertible top. This incredible motorcar has been meticulously maintained and stored in a climate controlled facility, having been only driven 16,438 miles from new! Equipped with a desirable high-performance 348ci 320 hp "Super Turbo-Thrust" V8 and a three-speed manual, this iconic Impala is the perfect example to add any world-class collection. Offered to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires to own one of the very best and lowest mile examples of this iconic motorcar to be found anywhere in the world at an investment price!
