Classic Car Overview
The car has a clean Texas title.
NOTE: The odometer reading in not correct. I am unsure of the actual mileage.
I have upgraded the brake system with new master cylinder and Zip front disc brakes ($1k). The rear drum brakes have been replaced with OEM products. The brakes work GREAT all the way around.
I have upgraded the steering system with a Steeroids power rack-n-pinion steering kit ($4k). It works GREAT with smooth turning.
I have upgraded the fuel system with a new fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel line, sending unit, and a FiTech electronic fuel injection system ($2k). The vehicle starts within 3 seconds every time you turn the key. The FiTech system continuously monitors and adjust the fuel delivery. The system comes with a handheld computer for adjustments. I have never had to make any adjustments.
The engine electric system is energized by new PerTronix electronic components. All new plugs and wires for sure dependability.
The car was recently fitted with a new corvette gear shifter and linkage.
The windshield wiper system was replaced with a Zip corvette system kit.
The entire radio system was replaced with a modern Corvette radio made for the 1960 corvette. The radio appears to be a 1960s radio with an AM faceplate. When powered, a modern digital screen takes over to reveal most modern features. The radio is also capable of accepting the cellphone Bluetooth add-on. I added the corvette kick panels with the custom speaker cutouts. I replaced all 3 speakers with a Bose speaker system. This includes both kick panel cutouts and the center dash speaker.
The following do not work . . . speedometer, tachometer, and heater. All parts are in place, but they need to be repaired.
The car comes with a white convertible top that raises and lowers easily. I do believe the top should be replaced in due time, because it has shrunk some, as normal, and is difficult to latch down. Overall, the top and the convertible rear window are in very good shape.
I also have the correct hard top for this car. It is matching red. The hard top has not yet been restored. It will need to be restored to match the overall appearance of the rest of the car. The rear window for the hard top is also included.
Overall, this car shows EXTREMELY well. Last year, I basically finished the car to my liking and decided to enter it into some of the local car shows. It won almost every show entered. It is in my opinion that this car will win most local shows. For the regional or national shows, the paint will need to be upgraded. Understand, the paint is good enough to win most of your local shows. It is shiny and smooth, but when inspected closely, you will find those imperfections that would not pass a nationals competition.
The body is in GREAT shape with no dings or soft spots, usually associated with an older fiberglass vehicle. I have included a photo showing one crack that is located below the trunk lid.
15 Bias ply tires roll on corvette wheels with the original style chrome wheel covers.
I have included a couple of photos showing the underside of the vehicle. It is clean and free of rust. Again, for any national competition, the underneath would need to be detailed.
The engine is a 1960s 283 V-8. It is not the original engine. It has been well-maintained and runs smoothly. As mentioned earlier, the new fuel injection system keeps it finely tuned. I have found and installed all chrome electronics covers. You will not find many old corvettes with these still installed. I added the custom valve covers, fuel rails, polished intake manifold, and fittings. The engine numbers are . . . F05I3WA and 3849852.
The car is registered on the C1 Corvette Registry . . . https://www.c1registry.com/index.php?job=ShowCorvette&car_id=Zml4ZWRfc3RyaW5nZml4Za/ajaAUFHo3VaKXy1fXYJ7fJHEr5JTRvP6uNyRNDWD/pk{66GGKvpzHTtGyeY6xnQ==
I have most of the original parts to be included in the sale . . . carburetor, steering shaft and gearbox (newly rebuilt), intake manifold, valve covers, front drums, wiper motor, fuel tank, etc.
I have always had corvettes since I was 17 years old. Ive had over 20 corvettes in my lifetime. I am now 65 years old and this was my last corvette I wanted . . . 1960 . . . The year I was born. I realize it is now time to just let someone else enjoy this vehicle. For me, it hurts getting in and out of a corvette now.
